Eileen Evelyn Schmick
March 30th, 2012
Eileen Evelyn Schmick passed away
peacefully with her family by her side, on March 30, 2012. Eileen was born on June 8, 1930, to Henry and
Ida Neumiller, on their farm west of Acme.
Eileen attended Bancroft School, after which she worked at the local
AGT, Macleod’s, vet clinic, and later in life, the Custom Woolen Mills. After being acquaintances for many years, Eileen
and Allan Schmick began their curling rink courtship. They were married on December 6, 1965, and
proudly began building the family farm east of Carstairs. Their two sons, Doug and Spencer were born
soon after. Eileen enjoyed spending time
with her family and friends, playing cards at the Half Century Club, singing
with the Drifters, gardening, and sewing.
Eileen will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Allan; son Doug, his
wife Susan, and their children Sarah and Quinn, of Carstairs; son Spencer, of
Calgary; sister and best friend Betty Marsh, of Carstairs; brother Les Neumiller
and his wife Rita, of Acme; as well as many extended family members and
friends. Eileen was pre-deceased by her
parents and special brother-in-law, Gordon Marsh. Eileen’s family would like to extend their
heartfelt thanks to Dr. Turner and the Olds Hospital acute care staff. A special thank you also goes to Dr. Hoffman
and the many nurses who gave Eileen their greatest respect and care during her
final days. A remembrance service was
held on April 4, 2012, at the Bancroft Carstairs United Church with Reverend
Bryan Derksen officiating. If friends so
wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Carstairs Community Chest, Box 592,
Carstairs, AB, T0M 0N0, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Messages of condolence may be left for the family.
