Florence Edith Searle
July 5th, 2012
It
is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. Florence was the fourth of six children born
to George Little and Yvonne Richard in Montreal Quebec. After working as a
Comptometer for Northern Electric during the war, she married Howard Russell
Searle on June 14, 1947. Florence and Howard lived in Montreal, briefly in
Saskatoon, back to Montreal and finally to Calgary in 1956 where they raised
their family of four children. Florence was a Brown Owl with the Girl Guides of
Canada for several years; she loved to paint and draw, read, listen
to music and had season’s tickets to the Calgary Stampeders until she was in
her 80’s. She also cheered for the Calgary Flames and would yell at the TV to
tell them how to play. Florence is survived by her sons Barry Searle (Sandra)
and Wayne Searle (Gloria), and her daughter Cathie Keiller. She was grandma to
Krista Searle, Shannon Searle-Kuczaj (Martin), Tanya Searle (Brad Thomas),
David Keiller and Jennifer Keiller. She was great-grandma to Kaylee and Nolan
Kuczaj. Florence was predeceased by her
husband Howard in 1984, her son David Ross Searle in 2009 and her son-in-law
Brian Keiller in 2000. Also passing before Florence were her parents and
siblings Teddy Little, Ethel Gruer, Archie Little, Pearl Jardine and Pat
Henderson. A celebration of Florence’s life is to be held on Saturday, July 14th
at 2:00pm at Southwood United Church, 10690 Elbow Drive SW Calgary. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area,
5960 Centre Street SE Calgary T2H 0C1 http://www.bbbscalgary.com
Messages of condolece may be left for the family.
