RIK TAYLOR - 1948-2012
Rik, beloved husband of Valerie, passed away on April 23, 2012 at the age of 64, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rik retired from the Calgary Fire Department as a Captain, after 30 ½ years of service. He is survived by his wife Valerie, sister Beverley (Paul) Bateman, niece and nephew Kristina and Greg. Rik is also survived by his stepson Trevor (Minerva) Florendine and grandchildren Rylan, Cody, Humberto, Kevin and Samantha. Rik also leaves behind his in-laws Gordon/Louise Harlow, Bev/Don Martin, Norma/Dave Mann and their families. Rik is also survived by special daughters J.S., Aey, Ling and Ploy. J.D and “Abby-Dabby-Doo” played an important part during the last year of his cancer struggle. Special thanks to Dr. Johan Lategan and the Clinic One Treatment staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Balzac Community Centre on Tuesday, May 1st at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist in research for Hematologic Malignancies.
