Albina Ann Seib
September 6th, 2020
Albina Seib, 84, of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2020. Born to Albin and Mary Herman on December 3, 1935 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the family farm outside of Guernsey, Saskatchewan with her sister, Verna and brother, Ed. She attended Sydenham School until she completed Grade 8. On June 29, 1957 she married Harry Seib in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. Together they had 6 children; Len, Gail, Gwen, Jean, Jan and Les. In Guernsey they owned Guernsey Motors and later built (1967) and operated the Leonard Motor Hotel. In 1974 the family moved to Calgary and she has resided here since.
Albina enjoyed being with family most of all. When she wasn’t cooking and baking for their large family, she enjoyed taking them to field days and watching Harry play ball. She was his biggest fan. Always helping out in the community, she spent countless hours volunteering in Guernsey and surrounding area, as well as in Calgary.
She spent her spare time playing bingo and cards for quarters. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee anytime of the day and watching baseball, hockey and curling on TV. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and at every chance she could, she would attend their hockey/ baseball games and synchronized swimming competitions.
In recent years, her 6 great-grandchildren gave her the most joy and told everyone she could that she was a “GG” (great-grandma). She enjoyed having her own pets and was always so happy when her families’ dogs greeted her with excitement when she came to visit.
Albina is lovingly remembered by her children, Len Seib (Cindy Albrecht-Martin), and his children with Michelle, Jordan (Kaylyn Beutler) and Talisa (Clay Stauffer); Gail (Tom) Caves; Gwen Johnson and sons, Michael and Mark (Kristy); Jean Seib and daughter, Pamela Johnson and her children, Colton, Triston, Avery and Autumn; and son, Devin Johnson (Sheila Correia) and their children, Olivia and Malia; Jan (Dwayne) Murray and sons, Brett (Natalie Riad) and Reed; Les (Dianne) Seib and daughter Allison (Chris Walker) and daughter-in-law, Michelle Seib. She is survived by her brother, Ed (Wendy) Herman; sister-in-law, Edna Daelick; and brother-in-law, Clarence Klein as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Albina was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 1995; her mother, Mary, in 2006; father, Albin, in 1976; and her sister, Verna Craft in 1984.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held later this week. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Albina’s name to a charity of your choice.
We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. Albina was such a great friend and neighbor. Our three children grew up with you in a small neighborhood where everyone looked after everyone else. There were always Mothers and Fathers outside looking after the neighborhood kids and Albina was one of the best Mothers to everyone. May God bless her.
