DUBITSKI, Anthony
March 21,1956- October 24, 2021
It's with immense sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved father and Papa, Tony.
Anthony Emile Dubitski was born March 21, 1956 In Edmonton, Alberta. He was one of seven children born to Edward and Kathleen Dubitski. In Tony's early years he was especially close to his maternal grandmother Alice Dolorne. The love and adoration he held for his grandma Alice was felt immensely in the stories he told and shared throughout the years.
After his father's passing, at the age of nine, Tony went to live with Don and Loretta Carruthers’s family. To Tony they were his Uncle and Aunty. The Carruthers's family were loving and very much influential in shaping the person Tony chose to become. After high school graduation, Tony naturally gravitated into the trades, becoming a pipefitter and welder. As his career progressed he went on to become a welding inspector; obtaining his inspection certification from Hobart Institute in 1997. Tony enjoyed a long career with Nova Chemical, becoming the welding coordinator until he took early retirement. After his retirement Tony ventured into owning and operating Tony's Welding Services until retiring last year.
Tony met his soulmate and future wife Ella Mae in 1992 and with her she brought a ready made family, who then became Tony's family as well. He embraced this new role and never looked back, becoming Papa Tony to his children and grandchildren! Tony and Ella Mae were married in 1996, enjoying 24 years of marriage, until her passing in September of 2020.
Tony was very much a quiet and humble man; and although he was a man of few words, he would never leave you guessing on where you stood with him. Tonys work ethic, fabrication skills, and mechanical abilities were second to none. His love of muscle cars and his mechanical aptitude brought out a passion for drag racing. Tony was a proud member of the IHRA, and competed for many seasons, racing his pride and joy, a 1969 Dart GT ( known as "Annie's Pet"), which he lovingly built from the ground up.
Tony was an avid golfer and enjoyed the sport immensely! In recent years he found a passion for snowmobiling, which he did with his good friend Louie. Tony was a fantastic dancer and loved many genres of music. He always said his ability to tear up a dance floor was credited to his Aunty Loretta and her weekly dance lessons while growing up! Tony will be fondly remembered for his impromptu garage parties by all of his children and grandchildren, who will fondly remember him singing and dancing to his favorite songs during holidays and family gatherings!
He leaves behind his love, legacy and life lessons to his children, Bobbi (Robin) Robinson, Ryan Simoneau and Rhiannon Godin (aka his Annie); and their 8 children and families; who will very much miss their "Papa T". Tony is further survived by his special niece, Kiara Simoneau, whom he considered like a daughter; his four sisters, Cec Dubitski, Michelle (Steve) Posthumus, Gail (Brian) Critchley, Cherie (Jim) Davis; five brothers, Ted (Linda) Carruthers, Larry aka "Bim" (Francine) Carruthers, August (Lori) Baert, Darcy Dubitski and Darryl Dubitski; father-in-law, Gerald; three brothers-in-law, Doyle (Randa), Mervin Simoneau and Raymond Simoneau; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and countless supportive friends, who were special to him. Tony loved his pets, and is sadly missed by his little dogs, Champ and Lola, who are being loved and cared for by his family now.
Tony was predeceased by his wife, Ella Mae; his parents, Edward & Kathleen; uncle and aunty, Don & Loretta; two brothers, Martin Dubitski & Edward Dubitski; two nephews, Chad Critchley and Jaz Carruthers; mother-in-law, Vera; sister-in-law Sherry; and two brothers-in-law, Carl and Kevin.
Due to covid capacity limits. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family & close friends.

Tony meant so much to us, he was apart of our family. He was a quiet and shy young boy, to become a thriving, industrious, intelligent, successful, happy married man with a family who is was deeply proud of, and loved unconditionally. I still remembered the 'little boy' in him, and a hug he wasn't going to avoid getting from me, no matter his smiling squiriming. We will miss his gentle laugh, his honest 'wisecrack' comments, his zest for cars and snowmobiles and being in his presence. May you join Willy and the ones who went before you, dancing and enjoying Eternal Bliss. We miss you.
