A Celebration of Life or Memorial Service offers a way to honour your loved one without the casket present, although an urn may be included. At Alternatives, we help you create a heartfelt tribute that truly reflects the individual’s life and legacy.
From reserving the perfect venue and coordinating a Clergy or celebrant, to arranging catering, obituaries, guest books, and flowers, we handle the details so you can focus on what matters most: celebrating a cherished life.
You’ll have a variety of options to customize the memorial—whether you’d like a relaxed gathering, a traditional ceremony, or something entirely unique. Should you wish, you can also select additional services, such as visitations, personalized urns, keepsake jewelry, or extra death certificates.
In-Home Arrangements
Our compassionate team will visit you at home (or meet virtually/phone, if you prefer) to guide you through the paperwork and answer any questions.
Transfer & On-Site Cremation
We respectfully transport your loved one from their place of passing to our on-site crematorium, where every step is managed with the utmost care.
Facility & Coordination
We reserve venues, arrange catering if needed, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Flowers, Guest Books, & More
From floral arrangements to custom service cards, we handle the details so you can focus on remembrance.

The Alternatives Event
Some families find that a traditional funeral or typical "celebration of life" doesn’t truly reflect who their loved one was—or how they wish to grieve and remember. That’s why we created the Alternatives Event.
Our licensed Funeral Directors and Event Planners work closely with you to design a unique theme, select a venue that resonates with your loved one’s life, and preside over the service itself. In contrast to ceremonies where attendees often remain passive onlookers, an Alternatives Event encourages active involvement, making every moment more meaningful and memorable.
Example: A Tribute in an Airport Hangar
When asked to honour a pilot, we transformed a local hangar into a one-of-a-kind memorial space. We served a favorite barbeque meal on the tarmac, had a bartender dressed as a flight attendant, and arranged for the family to arrive by helicopter with the ashes—ensuring the guest of honour was quite literally present. To create a remarkable finale, restored WWII aircraft performed a moving fly-by overhead. Guests also tested their skill flying radio-controlled helicopters, with donations made to the deceased’s chosen charity based on accuracy of landing. This interactive, immersive approach captured the pilot’s love of aviation and turned a difficult goodbye into a heartfelt celebration.
