It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Marvin Brennan in the morning of December 7, 2024. Born to the late Leonard and Cecile Brennan on October 14, 1953, in Fort William, Ontario, Marv was a cherished member of our family.

Marv truly shone when surrounded by loved ones, whether it was singing and dancing in the kitchen while doing dishes (The Lion Sleeps Tonight was a staple) or sharing laughter and jokes with his brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces in various backyards, garages, and camps from British Columbia to Ontario. Marv was a relatively quiet man but when he got going, he was known for his keen sense of humour with his typical one liner comebacks.  They always made you laugh. Growing up in Ontario, he embraced the cold, snowy winters and found joy in ice skating on the outdoor rinks in Neebing. He was so happy and thrilled to be able to introduce his son to outdoor ice skating when we visited family.

Marv also enjoyed ice fishing with his brothers, nephews, and their frequent companion, ‘Captain Morgan.’ He was always one to talk sports with his son (his wife was usually napping during the hockey game), and in earlier years, was always there to bring his son to practices and games or school field trips.

He loved spending time at the casino with his wife, whether near home, just across the border, or as far as Nevada. Marv found immense joy in being around his family and was always content to be at home, tending to the lawn and garden (especially his lime tree), or relaxing on the front porch and in the backyard.

Marv is survived by his wife, Sue; his son Ryan; his brother, Dale; his sister, Patricia Todd. Marv was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Marilyn Speak, Maurice Brennan, Bill Brennan, Terry Brennan, Denise Haner, Janice Prystanki.

In lieu of a funeral, Marv’s wishes were for his ashes to be spread in Deep Bay on Vancouver Island and Shebandowan Lake in Ontario. We ask that instead of flowers, please consider making a donation to BC Cancer in memory of Marv.

I first met Marvin when I stayed with your Parents in the 80’s. I remember the laughter and the jokes. He was a kind and loving person. My heart goes out to his family. ~ Anna Lutgendorf

Marv will be missed by all that knew him I'm sure, you couldn't have know Marv without liking him immensely. He was the funniest guy I've ever worked with and a good friend. My condolences to Sue and Ryan. ~ Oscar Pirelli
