Naida Elizabeth Mundie

August 6th, 2018

Her loving family are sad to announce the passing of Naida Mundie on Monday, August 6, 2018. Naida was born in Innisfail, July 8, 1929 eldest daughter of Lottie and Norman Smith of the Horseshoe Lake District. This was the beginning of her love of farming which never wavered. She married John “Jack” Mundie on July 2, 1951 and continued farm life in Knee Hill Valley district for 71 years. During that time she loved all aspects of farming, especially driving the combine in harvest and the birth of the calves in the spring. It was a close community which developed strong friendships for life. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, was a founding member of Club 51 and while helping to raise their family.

Jack passed away in 2000 and Naida moved to Innisfail to Snowberry Downs where she retired and started new friendships. Again cards, was a joy to her and the bridge “girls” kept her sharp and happy. She was a member of the Innisfail Hospital Auxiliary and loved to sing with the Senior Serenaders. Life was full and enjoyable.

Naida is lovingly remembered by her children: Drew (Laura) and his children Katelyn (Nate) and Jacquelyn (Ian): Heather (Bryan) and their sons Michael (Ashley) and Kevin: Barb (Joe)and her children Sarah and Jordan: Keith (Kandis) and their children Alex and Zack. She has 6 great-grandchildren and was their special GiGi. Her sisters Grace (Ben) Gillrie and Joyce (Allan) Sparks and their families have brought much joy to Naida’s life.

Naida recently celebrated her 89th birthday with family and friends. She would tell you to look for the bright side of everything in life and enjoyed her life to the fullest. She loved people and her family loved her always!

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Innisfail United Church, 4720 – 48th Ave., Innisfail on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
