Our grateful family wishes to thank Doctor Rees and ALL the staff at the Health Care Centre for their professional compassionate care Terry received during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Research, 6500 – 7007 14 st SW, Calgary, AB T2V 1P9 or Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
Terry was born in Drumheller, AB, and graduated in Hughenden. He joined the RCAF as a communications technician at the age of 19. He met the love of his life Verla Thompson over the breakfast table, and married her two years later after a long distance courtship.
After a 24 year career in the Airforce, Terry and Verla owned and ran Juniper Lodge, a motel restaurant campground complex outside Lacombe AB on Hwy 2 for 2 years. They then moved to Kelowna BC where he worked as a professional Chef for 13 years. His passion for cooking remained for the rest of his life.
Terry’s other passions included fishing, hunting, music and dancing. He was a competitive curler, and an avid pool player. He won a gold medal in Snooker in the 1998 Alberta Seniors Games and a bronze in the Canadian Senior Games.
In his retirement, Terry loved woodworking. He created beautiful and unique works of art that now adorn many homes. Terry and Verla both won many first place ribbons and awards at various craft fairs for their projects.
Playing the harmonica and singing with the Sunshine Boys for the past four years turned out to be the best of the many highlights of his life. He was loved, lived a full life, and will be missed by many.
My heartfelt condolences to all the family.
