Brian James Patrick

June 1, 1946 – January 29,2019

It is with great sadness the family of Brian James Patrick announces his sudden passing at the age of 72 on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, after a brief hospital stay in Red Deer while surrounded by family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Marion Patrick. Brian will be deeply missed by his two children Jodi McKay and Craig (Jacquie) Patrick; three grandchildren Grayden, Georgia and Miller; his two siblings Joan Verones and Marilyn (Russ) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Brian was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jean Patrick; his sister, Carol Simicic; his two brothers-in-law, Oreste Verones and Tony Simicic, and his grand-daughter, Kylie McKay.

Brian was born in Regina, SK in 1946, the second of four children, and then raised in Ogema, SK, and Assiniboia, SK.

Brian and Marion raised their family in Calgary, AB and then Assiniboia, SK where he had a long career as a bus driver. Brian drove tour buses across Canada and the USA and he was a beloved bus driver for the Moose Jaw Warriors for many years, and worked part-time as a school bus driver until retiring.

Brian was well known for his sense of humour, outgoing nature and ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He was always ready with a story about the experiences he had on his extensive bus driving adventures.

Brian will always be remembered for his passion for sports. He especially loved hockey, baseball and golf; Brian loved playing baseball for many years as a young man, coaching and refereeing hockey, coaching baseball and playing golf throughout his lifetime.

A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held in the springtime – announcement to come later.

For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Regional Hospital, 3942 50A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 4E7.
