May 8, 1974 – April 28, 2021
With the deepest of sorrow, we announce the death of our adored Kris Sturgess on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at age of 46 years. He passed away in the hospital, with his wife, Danielle, and brother, Ron, at his side.
There are no words that could ever describe him the way he deserves, he deserves a tribute meant for a legend; because that is what he was to so many.
Kris was passionate about so many things in his life, mostly about his boys, Benjamin and Lukas. He was so talented and inventive and creative. Through these passions and gifts he touched so many people. On his journey through life Kris was blessed with so many wonderful friends.
Kris was a kind and generous man, always willing to help anyone, friend and stranger alike. He was a passionate builder, inventor and creator. He used his talents to support many groups and to raise money for countless charities.
Kris is lovingly remembered by his wife, Danielle; sons, Benjamin and Lukas; brother, Ron (Candace); mother-in-law, Barb; brother-in-law, Kelly; brother-in-law, Aaron (Leah); nephews, Jacob, Liam and Ronnie; and nieces, Anna, Versai and Jillian. Kris was predeceased by his father, Bill; mother, Heather; and father-in-law, Wayne.
A Memorial Service will be held in the future when COVID regulations allow. It will be an epic celebration honouring our loved Kris. An announcement will be made by the family. In lieu of flowers, an education fund has been generously set up for Benjamin and Lukas to follow in Kris’ footsteps https://gofund.me/6652f95b
I am lost without you, but I know you are watching over us all and that gives me so much comfort. You will always be in my heart, and I will love you forever, rest easy my love until we meet again. Forever yours, Dani.
Messages:
Saddened to hear of Kris' passing, he was possessed of a singular zest for life. Despite drifting apart in recent years as life took us in different directions, adventures with Lumpy will always remain amongst our happiest memories.
My dear friend, you were the inspiration for so many adventures, the confidant in times of need, and the welcome face at so many finish lines I can not count. You were taken too soon and gave us so much. Fair winds, calm seas, and in Valhalla we shall drink again.
I danced with R2 many times over the years. Kris was such an amazing person, I'm sorry I didn't spend more time getting to know him. Rest In Peace friend.
When we heard Kris had passed away, we were truly saddened. Heather and Gordon were both childhood friends of ours and we all have many fond memories of our families spending time together especially at the Seale cottage on Deer Lake in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. Later, we all relocated to Alberta where we raised our young families (Lori, Ron, Scott, and Kris). In reading the tributes paid to Kris, it is evident he had inherited his benevolent attributes from his parents, Heather and Bill. They would be so proud of the wonderful husband, father, friend and citizen he had become. On behalf of our families, we extend sincere condolences to Dani, Ben and Lukas, and to Ron and Candace and their family. Love to all you and continue to take care of each other. Dani, my condolences to you and the boys. I was a good friend and neighbour of the Sturgess family. Known Chris since he was 2 years old
My deepest condolences for your loss. Kris was such a great kid!

Dear Danielle, Benjamin, Lukas, Ron, Candace and Family: We were surprised and saddened to hear of Kris's passing. He was such a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all. Keeping you in our warmest thoughts and prayers as you navigate this difficult time. With Deepest Sympathy.
Our condolences to the family. Kris was a good, wonderful man with a big heart that gave devotion, kindness, and generosity selflessly. He was a great friend to me and those around him and made the world better with his hearty laugh, kind affection and big heart. I'll miss ya, big guy.
My deepest condolences to your family. I worked with Kris for several years in the RDC Makerspace and he taught me so much in that time. He was always willing to give me advice on anything I was working on and loved to discuss ongoing projects. He will be sorely missed.
I worked with Kris at RDC; just an amazingly talented and a wonderful guy. My life is better just from knowing him and he will be deeply missed.
Kris is fondly remembered from his years in the Lee Ridge neighborhood of Mill Woods. A good friend to our son Matt through school. The memorial words written about him are exactly as we remember Kris. Taken far too young.
We were touched by Kris's ability to help out, no matter what it was. I just wish that we could have said hello to him once more. Gone, but not forgotten.
A great guy. He will be missed.
Always full of fun loved to joke and be happy you will be missed From Kevin Susan and Bryce
My sincere condolences to your family Danielle. Kris was a high school friend of mine who was sweet, kind, lovable and smart. We went to football games together to cheer for the McNally Tigers and sometimes we would sneak some booze in. He took Carla and I shooting and it was so much fun!! I had a hard time loading the bullets with my little fingers. I loved keeping up with his posts on Facebook and seeing the boys playing with him and R2. When Lukas was born I prayed so much for him and your whole family. Kris will be missed for sure! Friends forever! ❤
Condolences to the family (and fans) of such a gentle soul. Had only met him on a couple occasions but he was genuinely a caring and passionate individual. He will certainly be missed by all he made an impression with.xsb8hy
Ron and Candy I am so sorry to hear of Kris passing. He was a special man for sure. My condolences to his wife Danielle, Benjamin and Lukas. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Ron my heart goes out to you, so so sorry.
Thoughts and prayers are with you!
You will be missed by myself and Rose. Until we meet again.
To the Sturgess family- Both Jon and I were saddened to learn of Both Heather and Kristophers death. We lived next door to your family and watched Ron and Kristopher grow up. Heather loved both her boys dearly. Kristopher was fair haired with a big grin, helping heart, Ron was always quieter, handsome and also helpful. We moved overseas and lost touch. I saw Heather a couple of times shopping when we returned to Canada. Your Dad, Bill always was the first to lend a helping hand. Our most sincere condolences to they family, May your faith sustain you in this most challenging time. You are being thought of and prayed for, God bless.
