Adeline Marie Irvin (nee Kohlman)

Nov 10, 1946 – Jan 25, 2022

Born 1946 in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Passed away on Jan 25, 2022 at home in Pine Lake, AB surrounded by her loving family to the very end.

Adeline is mourned by her devoted husband of 26 years, Bill, her children Denis (Fiona) VanBrabant, Gerry (Anita) VanBrabant, Rick (Kelly) VanBrabant, Kim (Dave) Felgate, stepchildren Shandon (Tamara) Irvin and Ellery (Emma) Irvin, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her sisters Eileen Elligott and Bernice (Jim) Birtsch. She was pre-deceased by her parents John and Mary Kohlman, and her 6 brothers, Ben, Bob, Gene, Arnie, Vic, and Ken.

Adeline was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She absolutely treasured her close-knit family and took her greatest pleasure from large family gatherings and outings.  Her other joys were from friends and community.

She was a long-standing member of the Clymont community, at the Road Haven Resort in Arizona, and most recently at their home at Pine Lake. She also built many friendships through her love of golfing and camping with the Good Sam club. She was often affectionately known as the ‘Enforcer’ to anyone who played golf or cards with her, for her strict adherence to the rules of the game.

Intelligent and determined, Adeline returned to school after having her family, to obtain her Bachelor of Education in 1978.  She was a dedicated and very popular teacher of Honours’ math and drama at O’Leary Catholic High School in Edmonton throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

A celebration of Adeline’s life will be held in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Messages:

To Bill and Adeline's and Bill's families. What a loss. Adeline was a well respected and loved teacher, friend and community member. I will always remember her kindness to and concern for those in the Clymont community including Wayne and I. She used her work ethic, honesty and intelligence to quietly help others. Gwen McDonald Halabisky

The loss of Adeline's presence has definitely left a hole, her grandchildren (Csenia and Avlea) still can't believe she is truly gone. They were so happy to have spent time with her this past year, camping, and baking, and all that fun stuff. She always made a point of looking after others, ensuring everyone was taken care of. Now it's her turn to rest and be with God. Condolences to all of the family x.
