PARKER, Barbara Ann (nee Martel)
January 11, 1947 – March 5, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Ann Parker (nee Martel) of Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the age of 75 years after a courageous battle against cancer.
Barbara began her career with CHAB Radio in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as a continuity writer and worked her way up to executive secretary. When Barbara and her family moved to Red Deer, Alberta, she completed her Accounting Designation at the Red Deer College and began her career as a respected accountant at Anderson Macore. She then moved onto Titan Electric where she was their Account Controller, and then retired as the Chief Financial Officer (C.F.O.) of Red Flame Hot Tap Services, to fulfill her true passions in gardening and reading.
Barbara was the loving daughter of Adolph and Mary Martel. The adored wife of Craig Hall Parker. Courageous sister of George Martel, Yvonne “Bunny” (Dave) Brzak. Sheila (Ron) Mokry. Warrior and devoted Mother of Paul, Stephen (Claire), April, Amy (Dave). Proud Grandmother of Arielle and Nathan. Best friend of Britta Jensen. Barbara was predeceased by her first husband, Andy Huel, eldest Son, Paul, and her brother George.
Barbara will be most remembered for her intelligence, kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, open-mindedness, and beautiful smile. She will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be held later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Barbara’s name.

Our deepest condolences to Barb’s whole family and friends. Sounds like a beautiful person loved by all. I was younger when we moved away but I do remember Barb and family. RIP
Will always remember Barbs lovely smile and pleasant manner. She was a lovely lady. My sincere sympathy to the family.
I am forever grateful that Barbara accepted me so freely and lovingly into her family and life three years ago. We grew incredibly close and the wise words she shared with me during our long conversations will always be treasured. Barbara was the Mother I always yearned for. Thank you for providing Stephen and I with your blessing. Barbara was one of the most amazing people I have ever met, and her warmth and generosity was unrivalled. Barbara has such a positive impact on everyone who knew her. My hope is we can lean on her bright guiding light during this most difficult time, as she will never be forgotten. Love you always Mumzie aka your "Spirit Daughter"
That was a beautiful obituary. May she rest in peace!
Beautiful tribute for your Mom. Condolences to you April and your family.
I was fortunate enough to convince Barb to join me at Red Flame a small company; she was way out of our league. She ended up being an integral part of our team, she kept us in line and shared her knowledge with so many. She taught me to be fiscally responsible when no one else was, she mentored and helped others along their careers and kept them under her wing. I will always remember getting her great smile and a hug. So grateful for you Barb, love the Sayers Family, Jared, Mindy and the girls.
April,Amy, Stephen, Craig, I’m so sorry about Barb. Since we became family some 20 years ago, we have built some wonderful memories. We may not always have Barb, but no one can take away those lovely memories ❤️ One star will shine a bit brighter for you in the sky at night Love, Neil, Arielle, Nathan Jo-Anne and Marc.❤️❤️
Such a beautiful obituary! Dear Sweet Barb was my neighbor and friend for many years when we grew up next door in Moose Jaw. Then we moved away and lost touch. We reconnected a few years ago. She was a wonderful friend. My sympathy to each and every family member.
So very sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. She was always a lovely lady. (I am her brother George's first wife, mother of her niece Carrie)
