Walter Wagner
May 12th, 2014
Walter never entered a room without someone saying, “Hello Wally.” On Monday, May 12,2014 we all had to say, “Goodbye.” Born in southern Saskatchewan, Walter joined Jean, his wife of more than 60 years, when he passed away in Calgary in his 92nd year. Walter was a salesman, a sportsman, a businessman, and an entrepreneur, working, playing and raising a family in Saskatoon. Jean and Walter had cultivated a wide circle of friends and family over the years in Saskatoon, down south during their winter getaways, and out west visiting family. They loved times spent at the games table, and active to the end. Walter was golfing with his grandkids this fall nearly shooting his age and enjoying life to the fullest. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Staywell Manor for their exceptional care and kindness to Wally. Also a big thank you to his family physician and friend, Dr Laura Bennion and to Janet Bullard whose support and expertise made Wally’s final months what he wanted.
We will miss you Wally.

My husband Perry and I square and round danced with Wally and Jean for many years and took some dance trips together down into the U.S. I remember especially once we went to Colorado to a dance event and camped in the foothills. When getting up on one rather chilly morning, I remember Wally pounding his chest and saying something to the effect, "This is the life". We will miss them both, they lived life with enthusiasm every day they could.
Our deepest sympathies to the family of my Uncle Walter. My maiden name is Wagner and I am the daughter of Harry and Wanda Wagner. Even though we never got to see alot of Uncle Walter I did so enjoy any time spent with him and Jean. He reminded me the most of my own Dad in looks and actions. Quite a character. Rest in Peace, Uncle Wally.
