Leona Vertefeuille-Arthur

November 25th, 1938 ~ October 2nd, 2016

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Leona Vertefeuille-Arthur on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the age of 77 years. After an illness in February this year, her health slowly failed and she passed peacefully in her sleep.

To mourn her passing are daughters Diane (Gerald) Hendry, Susan (Rick) Bereti.  Her great joy were her grand and great-grandchildren, and she always had a story or pictures to show; Rebecca Ripplinger, Dan Ripplinger (Terri-Lynn) and their children Cyrus and Aylin, Stephanie (Bryan) Ganz and Dexter and Maxwell, Taylor Bereti (Jessica), and Melissa.

Predeceased by parents Joe and Celina Thibault, brothers Raymond and Herve, Mom is survived by sisters Muriel (Alfred) Vogt, Madeline Lipp, brothers Denis (Lynda), Rene (Bernice), sister-in-law Marie Thibault, along with many nieces and nephews, as well as her extended Vertefeuille family.

Mom lived the last 11 years in Santa Maria Senior’s Home in Regina.  For many years she delivered mail and activity calendars which gave her the chance to visit along the way. She never missed bingo and participated in all the activities that took place.  She was a strong advocate of senior’s rights and made her opinions well known.  Mom always enjoyed writing and last year she was honored with an award for short story writing and had her work published in a book called “From Across the River” by the Canadian Poetry Institute. She was also an avid Riders fan and prized her picture with the Grey Cup and signed jersey and enjoyed cheering on the team with her friend the late Jim Ziegler. Wednesday was cribbage night with Marilyn where she was known to try and cheat.  We would like to thank all the caregivers and staff at Santa Maria for their kindness and compassion towards Mom.   Special thanks to her physician Dr. Barry Lotz for his care and friendship. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Santa Maria Chapel, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina, SK with Monsignor Ken Miller, Celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Santa Maria Volunteer Fund c/o Margaret Sills, Santa Maria Senior’s Home, 4215 Regina Ave., Regina, SK would be greatly appreciated.
