Joyce Katherine Elizabeth Zwarych

February 13th, 1936 ~ April 6th, 2016

Joyce was completely surrounded by love and passed peacefully in the presence of her family on April 6, 2016.  Joyce Zwarych (Baba Z) joins her husband Steve, daughter Jo-Anne, and son Darius to be with the Lord.  Left to cherish her memory are Dennis (Susan), Terry (Oksanna), Darrell (Shauna), Kelly (Jill), Kristal (Kevin Fiessel), and son-in-law Bob Griffin.  Her 11 grandchildren Tricia (Anthony) Wood, Meghan (Brian) Gatin, Ivanna (Chris) Knoll, Marco (Jolene), Spencer, Madison, Liam, Taylor, Jordan, Luke, and Matthew.  Her 5 great-grandchildren Emilie, Xavier, Gemma, Simon and Aniyah.

Next to her family her faith was her life. She was a founding member of St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Parish, a fifty plus year member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada (UCWLC), past president of the St. Athanasius' Senior Club, and remained extremely active in the Church.

She received many accolades for all of her volunteer and human services work, as a nurse, home care provider and her volunteer work with others. She was recognized by the Knights of Columbus and Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate "Mother of the Year" award and received the Papal blessing for her eightieth birthday. She continued thinking of others until her last day.

Her smile and humour were infectious and her generosity was endless.  Many times Joyce would be found taking others to appointments, groceries, hospital visiting, to the library or driving them to church.

We may be losing a mother, a baba, and a friend, but heaven is gaining an angel.

The family would like to thank Dr. Booker and the doctors and nurses at the General Hospital, particularly CCU & CSU. You were wonderful.

In lieu of flowers please send your donations to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.

Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 55 McMurchy Ave., Regina, SK with Father Basil Malowany, Presider.  Prayer Service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Athanasius Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
