Ivan Richard Morley
August 20th, 2018
Ivan Richard Morley passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 20, 2018 with family by his side. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Viola and Ralph Morley and brother Earl from Francis, SK and Nelda Morley, the mother of his children. He is survived by his children, Greg (Susan and her boys Adam and Aaron) of Regina, Suzanne (Jon) of Canmore and Dona-Lynn of Regina; his grandchildren Mia Laine Morley of Edmonton and Jolsen Morley; his sisters Lola Beck of Magnolia Springs, Alabama, and Doreen Arnott of Calgary and his sister-in-law Ruth Morley, formerly of Francis; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Ivan was born on October 30, l928 in Regina and was raised on the family farm at Francis. He attended Luther College in Regina before spending some winters working on the west coast while farming in the summers.
Ivan became a business man. He owned and operated the Clover Farm General Store in Francis before moving to Regina in 1957 where he began a sales career. He worked with First Investors, King Merit and Occidental Life in Regina and Saskatoon. In the mid sixties Ivan and family returned to Regina. In the seventies Ivan owned and operated Indequip Sales. He also owned and managed the Wheatland Motel and Café. Ivan liked to be busy. Ivan still found the time and dedication to spend many years as an active member of the Maple Leaf Lions Club.
In his younger days Ivan played baseball, was an avid golfer and accomplished curler. Many watched him draw the button with last rock in the 10th end in the Regina Bonspiel to defeat the then world champion Ernie Richardson Rink.
Ivan had a magnificent voice, which he inherited from his father Ralph. For many years Ivan sang in church choirs, most notably Whitmore Park United Church. He appeared on the CKTV Van Wiebe show in the late 50’s and for a time was a member of the Regina Male Voice Choir. He sang at countless weddings and funerals, his beautiful voice would often move one to tears.
When he retired and sold his businesses, he worked full time at his former pastime, that of renovations and repairs. He was always available to help a neighbour, friend or family member with any type of construction project. He spent several winters with his sister Lola and brother-in-law Carl doing small construction related projects around Gulf Shores Alabama. Ivan could sew, cook family dinners and grow bountiful plants and flowers.
In 2013 Ivan settled into a peaceful retirement at Queen Victoria Estates where he played crib and pool, watched the news and his sports, particularly curling, tennis, the Jays and his beloved Riders. Ivan spent many hours putting together jig saw puzzles and hanging them for all to enjoy.
In accordance with Ivan’s wishes there will not be a memorial service. There will be a private family interment of his ashes in his father’s grave at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. You may leave a personal message of condolence at the family’s online obituary at: www.myalternatives.ca or mail may be sent c/o Ivan Morley to 1265 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4R 2E6.

Sep 04, 2018 So sorry to hear of Ivan's passing. Living on the west coast we did not see our cousins often but some of us do remember Ivan when he came west to work in the winters many years ago. We remember him as a fun-loving and outgoing person. Our few visits with him when he came west on vacation were times we enjoyed his company and stories... catching us up on family. Most of us were at in Battleford when our fathers were inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame. It was so nice to have a group visit but time was much too short. Our sincere condolences go out of Greg, Susanne, Dona-Lynn & families and to Lola & Doreen. I know Ivan will be greatly missed by all of you and many others. Love & Hugs from: Aunt Ella, Roberta, Coreen, Wayne, Pat, Margaret, Sharon, Betty-Lou, Bob and our families
To the Morley family, We are sorry to hear of the Ivan’s passing. My dad (Stan Lyon) worked for Ivan at Indequip Sales for years and I did also for a summer. Such a great man! Our thoughts are with you all. Jody (lyon) Snitzler and mom-Isabelle Lyon
sympathy to the family. I grew up with Ivan, and his family. lost track of him .
Greg, Suzanne and DL, Sorry to hear or your dad's passing. It was through your dad, I got to meet all 3 of you, and your mom. I had the good fortune of being associated with Ivan, for a number of years mostly through business and then as good friends. He was the eternal optimist and had ideas to burn. Sales was his background and he was darn good at it, but I would put Ivan in the Promoter and Coach category first. He loved to be able to rally people...........especially around his ideas. He brought people into his businesses and worked with their talents and expertise. Anyone who came into contact with Ivan, would have multiple stories, and so many that would bring a smile to ones face. Oh, and that voice!!! both singing, or just when he was trying to get a point across. There will never be another Ivan. Just a good guy, with a huge heart.
Dona-Lyn and Family: Our deepest sympathy is extended to you and your family. We do hope that fond memories will help you through this difficult time. Ray, Wanda and Tara Forsyth
Our condolences Greg and family. I know how important your father was to you and am happy that you were able to be there with him. Sending our love to the family. Martin (on behalf of the Snow/Krause-Snow family)
Our condolences to you and your family, Greg.
Although we lived in the States and seldom visited the Farm, my memories of Ivan are always of teasing his young cousin (me) and he would sing if someone asked him to. I was enthralled with his voice and his delightful personality. One a visit to Canada many years ago he was kind enough to copy many many pages of family history that he had gotten from another family member and give it to me so I would have a background on our family. My father (Lawrence) was Viola's brother. Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone in the family. He will be sadly missed.
Our deepest sympathy to all. We have fond memories of your dad, one is him singing the Our Father. I can still hear him in my mind. Bless you all!
Dona-Lynn, Suzanne, Greg and families In memory of Ivan, who especially in my younger years was fill-in dad to me but more so friend, a brother and some one who helped build my life What a special human being - my Sunday School teacher when we were living in the store in Francis Eric and Dallas
To DL and family Thoughts and prayers surround during this season of loss. It was wonderful to learn of the varied path your father traveled his life journey using his many strengths and talents. These are also apparent in his family who he loved!
Uncle Ivan was “present” and vibrant in my greatest childhood memories of family gatherings and celebrations and more sing songs than I can remember. He was bigger than life in his humour and smiles and love for us all as I recall the memories of myself as a young girl —He loved his family and there was no shortage of moments made extra special. Uncle Ivan just “rocked” for myself and my brothers and parents and “family” meant everything. I will carry the memories of his voice and song forever. Uncle Ivan, we loved you so ❤️
To Dona-Lyn & Family, We are so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. Sending much love and hugs. I loved the video. What a great memory of a special man.
I am Ivan's neighbour. When I moved beside Ivan's house, he gave my family lots of help. He gave me suggestions and helped me to repair and renovate my house. I can not using any words to display my appreciate. When Ivan moved to queen s victory, I went to see him sometimes, talking and taking some photo with him, celebrating his birthday with homemade cake. it is so wonderful memory to me. My family is so saddened of hearing Ivan pass away from the manager of queen s victory, we lost a good friend and neighbour. We give the deepest condolence to Ivan Morley's family. Wish Ivan rest in heaven.
