George Joseph Szeles

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of George Joseph Szeles announce the peaceful passing of their loving Dad, Grandpa, and devoted Husband on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the age of 81 years.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Szeles; brothers-in-law William Gebhart and Leonard Morin; great-niece Debbie MacIntosh; in-laws Kalman and Esther Koncz; sisters-in-law RoseAnn Koncz, Helen Volman and Betty Koncz; brothers-in-law Joseph Koncz and Alex Volman.
George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, lifetime partner and forever friend Betty (Elizabeth); children George (Wanda) of Regina, Laura (Larry) Metz of Winnipeg, Wanda of Regina, Kelly (Shannon) of Regina, Doug (Tracy) of Pense; grandchildren Michael and Jennifer Szeles of Regina, Candice Metz of Edmonton, Lydia Szeles of Regina, Hartley and Kalman Szeles of Pense, Melissa (Mike) Loos of Pilot Butte, Devon Fox of Regina, Jen Fox of Regina; great-grandchildren Ashton Tillson and Beau Loos; sisters Mary (Mike) Vass of Regina, Edna Gebhart and Margaret (Joe) Santo, both of Cupar, Julie Morin of Mission, BC, Betty (Al) Spencer of Hawaii, USA; brothers Frank (Joyce) of Pilot Butte and Albert (Janet) of Zehner; brother-in-law Andrew Koncz; sisters-in-law Margaret (Francis) Sentes and Ann Koncz, all of Regina; three special aunts Julia Granatier, Christine Padar, and Rose Borbely; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dad was born on a farm north of Cupar, SK on January 9, 1937. He was the 4th child and eldest son in his family of 8 children. He moved to Regina in 1958. While working in the city he continued farming until 1992 when he retired. He then enjoyed various vacations with Mom and all of the family. He especially appreciated our monthly family gatherings, spending time with all of his grandchildren, as well as restoring and showing his beloved John Deere tractors.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Pasqua Hospital that cared for Dad during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad’s memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or Canadian Cancer Research.
Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Both services will be held in Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK., Reverend Richard Krofchek Celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.

With sympathy to the George Szeles family from the Nagy families in Ontario. I met George's family once when doing the Mezsaros family history. Cousin Rose took me over to see the family. I say prayers daily for our deceased ancestors.

its with huge sadness i said good bye to my uncle George on Thursday, February 7, 2018 as well I was by my father's side frank. George's brother as the tears of sorrow gushed from my father's eyes and my eyes. We remembered the great time we all shared in Regina as well as Sedley farm at harvest spring seeding, its with great regret i didn't know he was that sick, but uncle George from the bottom of my heart you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
