Janet Theresa Gangl
March 17th, 2020
She has gone to heaven to be with her Dad and Mom, her sister Beatrice and her treasured four-legged little friend Mickey on March 17, 2020, which was her Mom’s birthday.
Janet will be sadly missed by her brother John and sister-in-law Sandy; nieces Alana (Paul), Chantel (Ryan) and Janel (Russ) along with her great-nieces Shelby, Addison and Keira and great-nephew Brant; also by her cherished nieces Laura Marcia and Lisa Lariviere.
Janet grew up on the farm at Vibank, Saskatchewan. She always used to say those were her best memories…..which included going for walks in the pasture and picking wild strawberries, riding her bike down to the creek catching frogs, going for tractor rides with her Dad and baking “golden” cookies with her Mom.
After graduating from Grade 12 at Vibank, Saskatchewan, Janet moved to Regina, Saskatchewan and worked at SaskPower until 1991. In 1991 Janet moved to Calgary, Alberta and worked at the Law Society of Alberta, making many lifelong wonderful friends. In 2008 Janet moved back to Regina and worked at Provincial Government at the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program until the time of her death and amassed many more friends.
Janet will especially be remembered for her love of sending cards, her treasured collections of pigs and her passion for saving boxes.
“I will miss you all so very much and will always watch over you wherever you are”.
At Janet’s request, a private Catholic Burial will be held.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Janet may be made to the MS Society of Canada.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet’s family at this sad time. Janet was a good friend of both Dean and I. We remember all the fun times we had together through the years. Also, the emails back and forth and can’t forget all the thoughtful cards to keep in touch from a far. It saddened us to hear of Janet’s passing. Even though it has been awhile since our last contact, I want the family to know what a good friend she was. It is way too soon! May your fond memories of Janet comfort you in the days ahead.
Our condolences to Janet's family. We knew Janet when our youngest son, Stu Ries, worked at PDAP. Later our other son Steve also worked with Janet and the three of them were connected through their work and soon they also became friends. When Stu died, way too young in September 2016, Janet asked to speak at his Celebration of Life service. It was so apparent how much Stu meant to her and I know she meant so much to him because he told us that so many times. Janet mentioned that they talked or texted every day and often more times per day and that Stu was always willing to help when she asked. After Stu died we would often receive gifts, cards and baking from Janet. She was so kind and considerate and helped us mourn the loss of our son. We shall never forget her warmth and caring. Rest in peace Janet. Verne, Debbie and Steve Ries
Auntie Janet! It is with sadness that I write this. I am sorry that distance and life grew us apart over the last 10 years, but you are my godmother and I have so so so many treasured memories with and about you...the most fabulous Canary Island sweaters for Christmas presents, all my Hallmark Precious Moments birthday girls that I was gifted from you and my Uncle Bernie every year until I was 18, the cards throughout the year with the most beautiful stickers, and all your heart warming letters. I was young and unknowing when things changed in your life. I didn't really understand at that time, but I did understand more as an adult. I am glad that we reconnected when I moved to Calgary. You were one of the most selfless and loving woman I know. My love to your immediate and extended family.
Janet was such a great person who will be missed. We kept in touch after she left Calgary and you could be sure to get a card or homemade treats and trinkets on every occasion. One time while camping together I called her Lucy after she dyed her hair red and sure enough Janet sent a " I love Lucy" Christmas decoration the next Christmas. That was Janet Rest in peace
Janet, I’ll miss your phone calls and cards and our suppers at Red Lobster! Your surprise boxes were also something I looked forward to going through, especially the chocolate marshmallow treats! Rest In Peace Janet. Lottie
Dear John, Sandy, and family. Our condolences to you. How sad to lose Janet at this time as she had a lot more to give. May your memories of better days provide some comfort. Cousin Fred and family
John,Sandy and families. We are so sorry to hear of your loss . Thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Lori and Rocky
Gladys (our nickname for Janet), there are so many things that we will miss and remember about you. Your laugh, your optimism that the weather forecast would be right - particularly about warm weather, peanut butter squares, finding a care package of some sort on the doorknob in the morning, cards for all occasions with many stickers! Scented candles, chocolate ’samples’ (I’m sure they knew you by name at Bernard Callebaut), and, of course, the pigs. Most of all, we will remember your kindness ❤️. Rest In Peace Janet, we know you are happy to be reunited with your mom, dad and sister, and Mickey. Love, Karen and Pat
Hi Janet, you never had a lot of use for Winter and looked ahead with the hope of Spring with just a little more zeal and optimism than most of us. Telling me at Christmas, look Cuz, it's already half over! Pretty soon there will be a Chinook from Alberta, the days are getting longer, so Spring is just around the corner!! You were able to see the rabbits start to change colour, and I know your watch for the first gopher, the first crow, and of course, the robins was well under way. I'll be watching and listening as always and thinking of my wonderful friend as the season changes. Spring is, in fact, just around the corner, the cat tales will soon arrive, sleep well Janet and know you were loved. Pat (Cuz) Schlotter One of Janet's favourite places in Regina was McKell Wascana Conservation Park in east Regina along Assiniboine Ave by Wascana View. For any of you who may not be aware of it or haven't yet taken the opportunity to visit, it is one of the few places remaining with the true Saskatchewan Prairie that Janet loved so much. It's worth taking the time. I know she would want to share this place with her friends.
Janet you will be missed. Iwill miss those awsome cards you sent me. Will also miss those phone calls we had. I remember when I had my 3 children you came to the hospital to visit and bring gifts. I will miss your friendship Loved our laughs and reminesing that we did on the phone for hours. Our sympathy to John his family and all your neices and nephews. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I can't even imagine how to start because no tribute to you could be enough. I remember our shopping trips through the stores looking for special stationary and eyeing up things that we could buy when we had enough "beans". The many conversations and your laugh will always be with me. Your kindness and love for Mickey when you puppy sitting for us, turned into a permanent home for him. He was a sweet pup who belonged with you. Your dedication to the ones you loved was unmatched. All the trips you took home to Regina from Calgary to be there for your Mom at the end. I am reading the card I just recently received from you and looking at the one I was sending for easter. I already have a pig one for your next birthday. There are so many more things I want to add but it is hard to type through the tears. I am going to miss you so much my friend. My heart is so heavy and hurting. You are gone way too soon. Much love from Darrell and I ❤ Rest in peace Janet until I see you again. Always, your "Peas and Carrots" friend Katie
Oh Janet, I shall miss our laughs, stories and receiving your beautiful cards. Heaven is lucky to have you, my fabulous friend ❤️
Janet had the biggest, most loving heart. She could always lend an ear and give the best advice. She could almost read my mind.. I just had to look her way and she just knew. I always couldn't wait to tell her the good deals I got with the response of "Oh my God Alana you are so smart, you are gonna be a millionaire by the time you're 40". I have the BEST memories from my BEST friend in the whole wide world. I love you so much and can't wait to see you again one day ❤❤ xoxo love you and hugs
Our deapest condolences to the family. May your memories be cherished.

Rest In Peace my beautiful friend; I will miss you and our chats so much. ❤️
To my Auntie Janet, I said a little prayer for you today ...And know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although he spoke no word. I didn’t ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn’t mind, I asked him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind. I asked that he be near At the start of each new day. To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness, For you in all things Great and small But it was for His loving care I prayed for most of all. I love you and will miss you, but I know you will never be far away.
