Gerald Clinton Wayne Giesbrecht

August 8th, 2020

Gerald “Gerry” Giesbrecht 1940-2020. His life was well lived and he was deeply loved! On August 8, 2020 with family by his side, Gerald was called home after a courageous battle with cancer.

This proud, loving, tenacious, resourceful and caring man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be tremendously missed by his wife and partner of more than 25 years Karen and his children Trevor (Jean), Craig (Christine), Shane (Sheryl), Erin (Thuan) and Troy (Bretlynn).

Family was the pivotal essence of Gerry’s life. He was proud and honoured to be the oldest brother in a family of eleven brothers and sisters. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather in a beautiful blended family.

Gerry had a beautiful smile, and nothing brought him more joy and earned more smiles than his grandchildren. Gerry was so proud to be grandfather to Jacey (Logan), Kiana (Beau), Tristan, Shyla, Georgia, Kason, Kyan, Aven and great-grandfather to Theodore, Hadassah and Finneas.

Born in Winkler Manitoba on December 28, 1940, Gerald always had a love for woodworking, motorcycles, fishing, hunting and classic cars. He had a long-standing and steadfast relationship with God and was very blessed with faith to his last breath.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents Ester and Tobias, and first wife Sheila. He is survived by a large family, predominantly on the west coast, in the Yukon and by many more who love him here in Saskatchewan.

Gerald made his home in British Columbia, the Yukon and then Saskatchewan. No matter where Gerry called home, he had the ability to connect with people. His friendly, helpful and genuine nature led him to establish deep friendships that supported, encouraged and bonded until his final days. Morning coffees at the local McDonalds will be forever changed without Gerry.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Gerry’s friends and extended “family” from Faith Baptist Church of Regina, SK and the local membership of the Christian Motorcycle Association for their love, support and friendship over the years.

Gerald will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle and cheeky eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort in his lessons, memories and knowing that he is kicking the soccer ball to Buddy and watching over us all.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held on August 14, 2020. The celebration will be available through livestream at https://www.fbcregina.ca/fbc-tv for those who wish to observe.

Messages:

When God brought Gerry into your life Karen, what a blessing it was! Gerry was such a caring man and a match made in heaven for you and Shane, Erin and Troy. Throughout all their years together, whenever we would meet, Gerry still looked at Karen with love in his eyes and a playful grin on is face. Ever once in a while, he even welcomed a bit of Dyck (Kolish) crazy into the house when we came for a visit. What a joy to share a few family times together. We will miss his laugh, smile, warmth and encouraging words. Sorry we could not come to support you as family but hope to see you soon!

Our deepest sympathy. We will miss Gerry very much. Had a lot of fun conversation and will never forget the fun Motorcycle rides with Gerry and Karen. "Will meet again."

We met Jerry & Karen thru Christian motorcyclists’ Association, and he would always seek us out in a crowd when we met. His faith was practical, and he was always ready to lend a hand to someone with a mechanical problem. We have fond memories of staying in your house Karen and you in ours on some of our rides. One of the hardest things is not being able to come celebrate his life and support you Karen at a funeral during a pandemic, but expect a visit from us when in Regina next. Love from Ron & Sandy

We met Gerry in our Langley home one time when he was trucking out this way and had a nice coffee time together. Our daughter, Tracy, spent time at Atlin Lake and spent time with the Geisbrecht family in Whitehorse. She still talks about Gerry and his family to this day and that was over 26 years ago. All of us in the Scarrow clan are greiving with the family but we know where Gerry is where there is no sorrow or greiving; just joy and peace with JESUS.

Gerald, Gerry, G, dad. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, mentor, and a friend! He was my dad. With all of those “hats” came a lot of responsibility, and he was up to the challenge! I will cherish every scolding, lesson, conversation, story, trip, ride, phone call, time together, and the love that you gave through it all. Thanks so much for being there for me no matter where I was and what I was doing. Your memory will live on, and your lessons, and stories will be shared countless times to come. Thank you for being you! Thank you for loving my mom so very much!!! Thanks for teaching me so...... many things!!! Thanks! I love you “G”! I only hope that I will be half the man that you have had part in being for me.

What a wonderful person Gerry must have been. Your tribute brings such a wonderful vision of who he was. We are so very sorry for your loss to your family.

I was so sorry to hear this, Karen. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Hugs to all the family! So truly sorry for such a loss! ♥️♥️♥️

Look forward to riding with you again one day.. you will be missed...

Sad to see the passing of a man that had a special impact in my life. Gerry was the first to invite me for coffee with the guys at the Klondike Inn , across from Beaver Lumber, Whitehorse. There , I heard many great stories, especially about how wonderful his boys were. He was always after me to make sure they were safe when they were at Camp Yukon. He really tore a strip out of me when he found out that Craig and I had spent a little quality time hanging on to an overturned canoe in the middle of Big Atlin Lake. He once spent a couple of days changing up every wood stove in every cabin because the were installed " unsafely". After his lectures on safety he would laugh and give that big grin of his. Gotta love him! God bless his memory!

I never met this man but I was a classmate of Trevor & Craig's while living in the Yukon as a child. I just wanted to reach out and say that this is a beautiful read in such a sad time, he sounds like an amazing person & caring individual. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your family member, may he rest in peace.

So very sorry for your loss. God’s love and blessings to you all.

Such a pleasure to know you! May God hold your family and friends close to His heart. We will be praying for you Karen. Much love

RIP. We will miss you. Mark is going to miss having you as his crib partner at Christmas and all the conversations that you had. I will miss you just as a whole for the brother -in-law that you have been to me for all the years. Love Audrey and Mark
