Bernice Lucille Hassard

November 18th, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our mother, sister, and grandma. Bernice passed away suddenly in Regina, SK on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the age of 70 years.

Bernice is survived by her loving family including her daughter Adrienne Hassard; son Dustin (Shea) Hassard; grandchildren Taylor (Ashley) Folk, Evan and Lauren Hassard; sister Lillian Martin; in-laws Vangy Martin, Lorna and Dennis Friess, Jan and Ross Dunbar, Faye MacLeod, Paddy and Don Dishington; as well as many well-loved extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dorian; parents Anne and Ernest Martin; sisters Geraldine and Sharon Martin; brother Gordon Martin; and niece Jenalle Martin.

Bernice was born in Regina, SK, in September of 1950.  In her youth she enjoyed creating art and participating in many sports and activities, culminating in her Athlete of the Year achievement during her senior year at Thom Collegiate.  While playing in a bowling league in 1968 she met the love of her life, Dorian, and they were married in 1970.  Together they continued to enjoy many hobbies including golf, curling, camping and traveling.  They had two children together as well as three grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride.  Bernice loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines International Prairie Gold Chorus group with whom she participated in competitions throughout North America.  In her later years she enjoyed playing games, reading, watching her favorite television shows and winter getaways to Hawaii and Arizona.

The family would like to thank the staff at College Park Retirement Residence, the RQHR Home Care team, and the doctors and nurses at Regina Pasqua Hospital 3D for their care and compassion.  A private, invitation-only MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:00 PM.  To join us in celebrating Bernice’s life, please go to www.facebook.com/clcregina to watch the memorial service live (Facebook is not required to access this service.)  Private family interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernice’s memory may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Messages:

Our thoughts are with the family at this sorrowful time. Over the years, Bernice spent many hours and special times with Prairie Gold Chorus as well as a period with Regina Chorus, Sweet Adelines International. We are grateful that we got to enjoy her time with us. Do Rest In Peace our friend in Harmony!

I would like to extend my personal sympathy to the family of Bernice. I golfed with her many times as we were best ball partners at the Murray Women's Golf Club for a few years, and with her golfing expertise, we even won two years in a row. I'm sorry I lost contact with her, but I often thought about her. May her memory be eternal!

On behalf of the Murray Women's Golf Club I would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. Bernice was a member of our club for a number of years and she also was active on the executive. May your wonderful times together as a family help to ease some sorrow at this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I have such fond memories of all of you when we were neighbours. She was such a vibrant friend, we had so much fun learning French, singing together, drinking coffee and watching you kids. It was such a long time ago and at the same time feels like yesterday. May your many happy memories sustain you during this difficult time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Noela

Sorry for your loss. Be strong at this time
