Jody Hoffman

November 26th, 2020

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jody Hoffman on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at the age of 54 years young. During her battle with cancer she showed incredible strength and courage. Her positivity carried through with her until the end.

Jody was always active in her community. While her kids were young she was the president of the community association and frequently volunteered with the school. Before she got sick, she worked at the Royal Canadian Legion as the CEO. She took great pride in her work at the Legion. She went above and beyond her required duties. You could often find her representing the legion outside of her scheduled work hours. That was a testament to who she was.

On Sundays when Jody wasn't lying by the pool, she could be found at the bingo hall enjoying her favourite past time. Growing up she loved spending time with her family at Pasqua Lake. For the past 10 years, her and her husband Chris loved travelling through the mountains finding hidden lakes and views. Mostly, she loved being with her grandchildren as they were her biggest joy in life.

She was predeceased by her father, Harold. Left to cherish Jody's memory is her common-law husband Chris, mother Kay, daughter Ally (Steve) and their children Presley and Bodhi, daughter Kayla (Jason) and their son Lyndon, stepdaughter Dannie and her children Tavin and Charlie, stepson Brendan, and her brother Trevor.

Due to the current pandemic, no memorial service will be held. We encourage people to celebrate her life with us by sharing your stories and memories of Jody in the messages section below.

Friends and family wishing to make donations in Jody's memory can donate to the Royal Canadian Legion or the Allan Blair Cancer Centre.

Jody, Sweetheart you were not only a wonderful daughter-in-law but a sweet wonderful friend as well and not a day goes by that I don't miss you tremendously. We made many great memories that I have tucked away in a special place in my heart. I know heaven was the best place for you because you were suffering so much but it hurts and saddens me that you had to go so soon. I miss you and you're beautiful smile. Love eternally your mother-in-law and friend.

Jody, I so admired your courage. You were a kind, thoughtful person who always made me feel welcome.I know that your beautiful spirit is free and that you are in a good place,in good company.May you rest in peace.May your family be comforted by all the memories you created with them.

Sincere thoughts of sympathy to Jody's family and friends at this sad time. I met Jody through Legion events and activities. When I hear `Jody' I will recall her infectious smile, her keen sense of humour and her love of her family. Take care everyone.

Jody was probably one of the best friends I have ever had after our chance meeting in Grade 8 at Campbell Collegiate...we were thick as thieves after that day. We had tons of fun hanging out together constantly, giving grief to the teachers at Campbell, giving our parents grey hair, and making our mark every where we went. We always said we should write a book about our encounters, never a dull moment when Jody was around! We had lost contact over the years but ran into each other about 3 years ago, shortly before Jody was diagnosed with cancer, and we must have laughed and chatted for about 3 hours straight, just reliving old times...it felt like we hadn't missed a beat. Jody was truly one of a kind, a real diamond in the rough....I will miss you Jody, thank you so much for making me part of your life.

We were part of the "Grandma Hoffman babysiiting crew of cousins". Good memories of St John St & the Beach!! I babysat Jody & Trevor back in Gordon Rd days. Last spent time w/Jody at Lynn's a couple of years ago when the "1966" babies were celebrating their 50 birthdays (Carmen, Jody, Corey & Yvonne). My heart is with all of you!! Love & Hugs!!

Kayla, Jason and all your family, so very sorry for your loss, may happy memories help you in the days and years to come, God bless you all.

CANCER SUCKS My heart hurts for all your family Jody. Your journey with that beast is over. May your family feel our loving kisses and hugs in the days to come. I will always remember Jody’s smile. Thanks Jody for the lunchtime chats with my husband Darrell. Love cousin Brenda

Very sorry for your loss Kayla, Jay and family. Sending all my love and prayers to you all. Char

I remember Jody always made a point of saying hi and chatting with me when I was the newbie to the family get togethers. I loved that and will miss seeing her smile and our chats. My deepest condolences to the whole family.

My sincere condolences to you Chris, as well as Jody’s daughters and family. I’m thinking of you all and sending my strength. May love lift you and heal where it is needed. ❤️

I had so much fun with Jody! Hanging out at Hoffmans’ feasting on Grandma’s strudel, going to the cottage, and even car rides in the red impala were adventures when Jody was around. When I ran into Jody at the farmers’ market years later and she told me how her family had grown up I had a glimpse of how much she loved you all. I hope that her memory is a source of strength and comfort in the days ahead.

So saddened to hear of the loss of Jody. My deepest sympathies to her family. I met Jody when she was working at the Legion.

She was a joy to work with a great teammate. Always putting others needs and wants before her own, personally and professionally. The memory of Jody always puts a smile on my face and will continue to do so. Rest in piece my friend

Our hearts are broken. As the days continue to pass, I hope you will all find comfort from all of us, as we surround you with our love and the wonderful memories you have of Jody. I pray that God will touch you with His healing hands and give you the peace you need to get you through your grief and sadness. Jody was a blessing and our memory of her will always be a treasure. Love to all. Bernice

Jody was a blessing my entire life. We grew up together (between grandma’s and the beach), she was my bridesmaid at my wedding, and had our oldest children weeks apart. She was a great mom, with a giving heart. And that smile!!!!! We will miss you Jod. Say hi to your dad for us.

Kayla, Ally, Chris and Kay. My deepest condolences to your family. Jody remained positive while looking a giant in the eye and saying Not Today Cancer. We shared laughs, observations and ideas for a short period of time while being apart of the Legion. Jody waded into things without hesitation. I will miss my friend.

My heart goes to you Kayla. May your lovely Mama RIP and her memory be eternal. Remember all the good and happy times, they will bring you comfort. Thinking of you all, love to you, Jay and Lyndon. Our deepest sympathies, Nicole & Jim

I remember your infectious energy from back when I was a child. It was always comforting seeing your smile in the hallways at Dieppe. Sending my condolences to Kayla and the rest of the family. May you rest peacefully.

I remember when we were planning your wedding ally and how excited your mom was and all the fun times we had laughing. She loves you all so very much and her contagious laugh will be miss dearly!!
