Denis Losie
September 5th, 2020
On September 5, 2020 Denis Losie died peacefully as a result of liver failure with family by his side. Denis was 46 years old and lived and struggled with an alcohol addiction, a beast of a disease, for longer than many were aware. Born on November 18, 1973, Denis was a gentle and kind soul from day one. Denis is survived by his mother Donna; sisters Alexis and Maureen (Zevin); Jenny and sons Luke, Jake, and Ben; as well as a large group of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jim and Marjorie Losie and Alex and Patricia Unser; brother in infancy; daughter Lily; and father Denis Losie Sr. Denis was passionate about his work, sports, the outdoors, and quality time spent with those he loved. A very special thank you to Jan Cibart, Dr. Joanne McLeod, the team at Palliative Home Care and EMS for helping us to respect Denis’ wishes to remain at home. Rest peacefully Denis - “the same sun rising on me is rising over you”.
Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, SK (please meet at the cemetery gates). Due to COVID all guests will remain in vehicles and the service will be available through your radio; details provided upon arrival at the service.
Messages:
Please accept my sincere condolences Donna, Alexis and Maureen. I remember Denis as a great Golden Son football player who was the leader of of the defense. At practices, it was always fun to observe the strong bond & love between Denis & his Dad who was often in attendance. Off the field, Denis was a gentle leader & respected as a true friend to his fellow students.
Donna, Alexis and Maureen Our deepest condolences on Denis's passing. Sending you hugs and prayers during this very difficult time.
Dear Donna & family, I am so saddened for your loss. Denis was one of my favorite young people who I met through Rams football. He was a gentle, lovable guy. If I was to have another son, he would be it. I share in your hurt and sorrow, as it has to be hard to lose someone so special. Sincerely, Helen Sinclair
Dear Losie Family, It’s been years since I played football with Denis but all I have are good memories, both of our time as teammates and of him as a person. Denis was a contradiction. A beast on the football field and a friendly, gentle person off of it. He gave his complete attention to whoever he was with, which made those around him feel they were more important. That’s a rare gift that the world could use more of. I am so sorry for your loss, and the pain you have had to endure. You have my deepest sympathies, Scott Sinclair Regina Rams, 1991-93
Donna and family, our hearts are breaking for you as you say goodbye to Denis today. Sending you our thoughts and prayers.
My sincere condolences to Donna, Alexis, Maureen and extended family on the passing of Denis. I have very fond memories of teaching and coaching the Losie family. Denis was a leader in elementary school and proved to be the same in high school and later in life. He will be missed. My prayers go out to the Losie family.
Thinking of all of you at this difficult time. Wishing you peace and comfort.
Donna, Please accept and pass on our condolences to all. Words are not enough and fail me at this time.
Our condolences to the entire Losie family.
I am so sorry for your loss! Denis was someone to see the positives in people. He pushed me to reach goals that I never figured I'd ever obtain. He will be greatly missed!

Our condolences to the Losie family. He was a great football player but an even better person. Always smiling and a genuinely good guy. We will miss him.
Our sincerest condolences to you Donna and all your family. Denis sounded like a wonderful man, so sorry for your loss.
It was with great shock and sadness that I learned of Denis’ passing. I had the pleasure of coaching minor football with him for two seasons on his son Luke’s team. It was immediately obvious that Denis was a tremendous coach who’s enthusiasm was contagious to the team. I know he considered the time coaching Luke and his team mates very special. Our teams were only some of the young people he had a profound influence on. In that way he left a positive mark on our community. He will be missed and I offer my sympathies to his family and friends.
Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. May memories you hold dear, bring you comfort.
Our heartfelt sympathy Donna and family. Denis must have had a difficult life with his addiction. But am glad you were there for him in the last few days of his life. Blessings to all of you.
Our heartfelt sympathy to each of you, the Losie family as neighbours for Daryl, Carmen, Alex and Enza were so great and treasured. Alcohol addiction is truly a beast and a struggling journey; we share in your deep sorrow and hope the wonderful memories of both Denis Sr. and Denis Jr. keep you during this time.
My condolences to Jenny, the kids, family and friends. Denis and I were teammates on the Rams and worked side by side for many years. On kickoff him and I would bark like wolves and had so much fun. Denis is a gentle giant and lived life on life’s terms. I believe he has found Serenity ! Will miss u

This is a very sad time for all of us. We remember Denis as our lifelong friend - our pal. The time we spent as kids in elementary school, high school, university and beyond will be cherished. Most of our time was spent on the ball diamond, at the hockey rink, and on the football field. Simply put, time spent as friends. It is difficult to find the right words to say. Our hearts go out to his family. We will miss him greatly.
Dearest Jenny (J-Lo), I am so very sorry to hear of your deep loss. Surround yourself with your wonderful boys and beautiful memories. I am thinking of you and wishing you peace as you move forward. Please take care.

My deepest condolences to the family in this sad time. Dennis was well liked by all of his teammates on the Rams.
My deepest condolences to the Losie family. Denis was an excellent role model and leader to younger players on the Rams. And as a coach, he was always fair and enthusiastic. I know that everyone who met Denis will remember his smile. He had such a good heart and it hurts to lose a friend so young. Rest in Peace, my friend.
As a distant family member, I am sorry for the loss of someone that has been described in the way that Denis is described. I met Denis sr. once, the impression made for a lifetime. I know how proud he was of Denis Jr. With the same last name, I was proud to be connected to both of these men, though not in their lives. From afar I wish you peace. Addiction is a disease of our nation. We are all enough, worthy, and deserving of love, I simply wish you strength, peace, and faith in a time of grief and comforts in memories of the joys in life. sincerely, Diane.
Donna, Alexis, Maureen, Jenny, Luke, Ben! We are so very sorry too hear of your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Denis Junior like his father, in his own way, was larger than life. I will always remember him as a soft spoken gentleman. Rest in Peace my Friend!

My deepest condolences to the Losie family and all who considered Denis a friend. I met Denis during my time as a trainer with the Rams. I remember Denis as a kind, considerate and caring person. I pray he has found peace.
I am very sorry for your loss. Denis and I were team mates on the Rams. Although I didn't know him very well, I liked him and thought he was a kind and caring man. As the years passed I would bump into Denis occasionally and he always greeted me with a handshake and a smile. He will be missed by many.
Sending condolences to your family! May the loving memories you have of Denis Junior carry you through this sad time. Hugs
To say that I was heartbroken when I heard the news of Denis' passing is an understatement. Denis is a part of many of my memories from growing up in Regina. Whether it be traveling through California to play hockey or hanging out on some baseball diamond in Regina while Denis Sr., comparing us to Electrolux vacuum cleaners, hit ground balls to us. Denis always made me smile and feel special. My experience is that he made everyone feel special. The world has lost a ray of light. Ian, Olivia, Kate and Roman McKay
