Sharon June Powers
August 20th, 2020
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sharon June Powers (nee Evans) on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Sharon was born in the midst of a Saskatchewan blizzard on January 12, 1947. She was the first born of Bud and Norma Evans.
Weather also played a factor when Sharon married Bill Powers during the spring flood in Lumsden in April 1969 and they had to move the wedding at the last minute to Grand Coulee.
Sharon spent her working career at SGI, interrupted only for the birth of her daughter. She retired in January 2012, achieving the title of Underwriter.
Family was always a priority for Sharon; be it weekends at the family cottage or Shauna’s birthday parties that were combined with Grey Cup parties, not to mention her extensive Christmas village.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents Bud and Norma Evans, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Charlie and Helen Powers and her brother-in-law Gerald Bakewell.
Sharon will always be remembered by her husband Bill Powers, her daughter Shauna Finn and her sisters Patty (Gary) Young and Ethel (Alfred) Bast. She will also be remembered by Bill’s sisters Lois Bakewell and Sharron Powers, nieces Tracey Eberle and Brooke Powers, nephew Lawrence Eberle and other family members and friends.
At Sharon’s request there will be no funeral service.
