Roger James Boulding

On Monday, November 14, 2022, Roger James Boulding unexpectedly passed away after a brief hospital stay. He was 69 years old.

Roger was predeceased by his wife Gail Lynn Boulding (nee Godlien); parents William and Mary Jane (nee Frijouf) Boulding; his brothers Richard, Brian and Frank; as well as great-granddaughter, Charlee Godlien.

Roger is survived by his children Kimberly (Dominic) and Kendra (Bobby); grandchildren Alexandra (Gary), McKayla (Codey), Brooke (Ryan) and Kaydin; great-grandchildren Ireland, Isley and Everleigh; siblings Larry, David, Pearl and Helen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Born to William and Mary Jane, Roger spent the early years of his life growing up on the prairies of Saskatchewan, where he would ultimately spend his life.

Roger spent the majority of his working career as a long haul and domestic truck driver. This allowed him to spend many, many hours on those long prairie highways taking in every single amazing Saskatchewan sunrise and sunset.

Roger loved driving truck and the career he chose for himself. He loved being on the open road with the yellow fields stretching as far as the eye can see in the summer. He didn’t love the slickness of those roads in the winter, but always, always made sure he came home safe to his family. Although he loved his time on the road, he realized that time on the road also meant time away from his family but he was always there when it counted. It was a delicate balance for him. He loved his family dearly.

As years passed by too quickly, as they always do, there were many highs and lows. Many losses. Many regrets. Many memories made. Ultimately, health problems weighed in and Roger was not able to work much earlier in his life than he would have liked or was expected. This was very hard for him but you would never know it. He continued to laugh and joke through the many years of health issues that would follow him. He was not just his health issues. He was a truly amazing person. Roger loved so much about life, the good and the bad. He took each day in stride.

Roger loved baseball (except when the Blue Jays were losing). Roger loved curling. Roger loved watching terrible NCIS re-runs. Roger loved music and the radio was never off in the kitchen. Roger loved flowers and gardens. Roger loved ice-cream (his diabetes did not). Roger loved telling stories and he could talk for hours about nothing and everything. Roger was smart. He could give you directions to any town in Saskatchewan and had no idea what GPS or google maps was. Roger was sensitive and had such a beautiful heart. He loved quietly but so very deeply. Roger was not perfect but always did the best he could. Roger loved to laugh, deep belly laughs and when he did his eyes had this sparkle that was infectious. Roger loved everyone in his own way.

A Private Memorial Service will be held in the spring of 2023 and he will be laid to rest on the same prairie ground that he came from.
