Patty Jamanella Engel

 On Sunday, January 2, 2022 Patty Jamanella Engel loving wife and mother to her precious fur baby Dexter, passed away at the age of 57.

 Patty was born on April 20, 1964 in Melville, SK to Frank and Molly Engel. The youngest of six children, she was raised in Lemberg, SK. Patty graduated Lemberg High School Class of '82 and chose to study Computer Science at the University of Regina. After graduating, she had a long and successful career in IT as a mainframe application developer and manager for both IPSCO and SSAB. She was highly respected for her logical mind, work ethic and knowledge of steel manufacturing systems, having developed many of the QA systems still in use today by these companies.

 Outgoing and athletic, like most small town girls, Patty played every sport offered to her at school but she especially enjoyed volleyball. It was through volleyball that she first encountered her husband Donny. She loved him from the moment she met him and they shared a beautiful life together.

 Patty was beloved by all for her caring way, making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. She was a natural protector and helped many through challenging times in their lives with her singular grace and understanding. Patty’s playfulness and sparkling wit made her a pure joy to be around and led to many many hilarious moments that will be cherished by all who knew her.

 Patty was predeceased by her father Frank and her mother Molly. She is survived by her husband Donny; her brothers Greg, Kevin and Vince; her sisters Maureen and Lee Ann; mother-in-law Donna; thirteen nieces and nephews; and eighteen great-nieces and nephews

 A Memorial Service will be held for Patty on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Turvey Centre Lounge, 100 Armour Road (Highway 6 North), Regina, Saskatcherwan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.

Donny, LeeAnn and all the Engel family, I'm so sorry to have learned about your loss. Patty and I met each other back 'in the 80's. We played volleyball together on the 'Good Time Charlie's' team and seemed to hit it off immediately. Life was simple and a lot of fun back then. She was just a special person, someone you could lean on, trust, admire and have a great time with. I have many wonderful memories of Patty and she will always hold a special place in my heart. Such a beautiful person! As colleagues and friends for many years, Patty had such a unique ability to brighten the day with her quick wit and warm humor while helping with any challenge. My deepest sympathies to Don and the Engel family.

i cannot find enough words that I can say about Patty. She had been my best and longest friend since Grade 3 in Lemberg. She touched so many people's lives and I know that Don and the entire Engel family is grieving. I send all my love, prayers and hugs to all. Her smile and heart will not be forgotten. As I write this, I still cannot bring myself to accept the fact that Patty is no longer with us. I was in shock and actually trembling as I read the news. From the first day when she interviewed me to my last conversation with her, she always impressed me, not only on a professional level but also as a wonderful human being, a friend, a team leader. She was extremely fair in here dealings, quick to appreciate and also gently guide us when needed. She believed in team work and led her team with utmost efficiency. Didn't realize that she could leave such a deep impact. Patty will be missed and will be in our memories and prayers for ever. May her soul rest in peace.

Sending so much love to the family. She was a kind and compassionate women, my God Mother. She will be greatly missed.

My heart is crying....Patty was such a light in this world. Her laugh, her big smile, her boundless energy and her huge huge heart....I have so many happy and fun memories of her and some of the shenanigans we had. May all of you find peace in knowing how loved she was and how much joy she brought to our lives. RIP Patty.....you will never be forgotten.

Our heartfelt condolences to Don and the Engel family for their loss. Patty was such a wonderful, smart, fun-loving, and caring person. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss and I am sending my condolences to Patti’s entire family. I had the privilege of working with Patti at IPSCO for many years. She was an incredible coworker; she always was willing to offer a helping hand and with a smile on her face. And When I remember Patti, I see that beautiful smile.

I first met Patty via a SSAB business project. She eventually joined my team as a consultant and then as an employee. Patty was professional, well organized, a great leader and very respected by all who interacted with her. She was someone who I could use as a sounding board. I respected her opinion and advice. Over the years, she also became a friend. She was devoted to Donny and Dexter and often spoke of them. I can't express how much I will miss her both personally and professionally. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Oh my heart breaks to lose such an incredible friend. Patty Jamanella was one of the most beautiful, thoughtful, funny and clever girls and she will be missed so much. To her Sweet Donny, her love for you was so deep and I so enjoyed watching the two of you together - if always made me smile - thank you for giving her such a wonderful life.
