Joseph Stephen Edwin Lipoth
April 18th, 1938 ~ November 19th, 2022
Joseph was born on April 18, 1938 to John and Helen Lipoth in Parkerview, SK. He grew up on a farm in the Waldron area, where he worked on the family farm, and proudly played hockey and baseball with the 36 Rangers. Joseph attended school in Waldron, St. Joseph’s College in Yorkton, and in Stockholm. He earned his credentials as a steam pipe fitter at technical school in Moose Jaw.
Joseph worked in many fields including steam fitting with Waterman Waterbury, mining at IMC in Esterhazy, and overhead crane operator in the melt shop at IPSCO in Regina, but his heart was always on the farm.
An interesting fact is that Joseph’s parents, John and Helen were Cecilia’s Godparents; and Cecilia’s parents, Julius and Helen were Joseph’s Godparents. Joseph and Cecilia were reacquainted in Stockholm at St. Joseph’s School in 1959 and were married on June 27, 1964. They started their life together living in Stockholm. God blessed them first with the birth of Yvonne and then Greg. In the Fall of 1969, they moved to Regina and were further blessed by the birth of James.
We remember Joseph as being adventurous, friendly, generous, kind, encouraging, trusting, forgiving, but most of all a man of unshakable faith.
Through adversity and injury, followed by health issues later on in life, Joseph resolved to find consolation through his relationship with God. As each year went by, his desire to pray and to share his faith with others increased. Even in the decline of his final years, his unwavering desire to pray was nothing short of inspirational to the people around him.
We are heavy-hearted to say good-bye to our husband, dad and grandpa but we have peace and joy in knowing that Dad is in the arms of his Heavenly Father. We love you Dad.
Joseph was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Helen Lipoth (nee Kulcsar) and his siblings James Lipoth, Barbara Breit, Bernadette Hickie, and Ralph Lipoth.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Cecilia of 58 years; his daughter Yvonne (Darryl) Klyne and grandchildren Daniel and Elijah; his son Gregory (Carey) Lipoth and grandchildren Jonathan, Elizabeth, Isabella, and Sophia; his son James (Chelsie) Lipoth and grandchildren Stephen, Andrew, and Emily. He is also survived by his brothers Aloysius Lipoth and Alphonse (Grace) Lipoth and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1021 McCarthy Blvd. N., Regina, SK on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (https://alzheimer.ca/sk/en).

Condolences on Uncle Joe's passing. I remember the trip to Parkerview with all the Lipoth brothers to see where they lived when he was born and the interesting stories that were told. At least, the ones that I could understand. Some of the conversation was in Hungarian. Uncle Joe will certainly be missed.
