Laurie May Palmer (nee Gossard)
June 18th, 2022
Laurie May Palmer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on June 18, 2022 at the age of 63 years following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn her passing.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years Ronald Joseph Palmer; her daughters Rebecca Palmer (Michael Suter) and Kathryn Palmer (Kevin Petty); her grandchildren Ambrose and Marlowe Petty; her brothers David Gossard (Elizabeth), Kelly Gossard (Tracey) and Neil Gossard (Lu); as well as numerous relatives and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her neighbours and friends at Katepwa Lake, SK. She was predeceased by her loving mother Jean Gossard and father Phillip Gossard.
Laurie was born and raised in Cabri, SK. As a child she loved piano, Girl Guides and swimming. Her love of the French language led to her becoming a core French elementary school teacher. She began teaching in Esterhazy in 1981 and then spent the majority of her career working for Regina Public Schools. Regina is where she met Ron (and his abundance of siblings) and later married him in 1983. They added Becky to their family in 1986 and Kathryn in 1988. Laurie continued to teach French to children until 2011 when she retired. After retirement, Ron and Laurie travelled the world - especially enjoying cruises. The cottage she built with Ron at Katepwa Lake is where she was most happy, tending to her flowers, watching for birds, and sitting on the beach. In 2018, Laurie became a grandmother for the first time when Ambrose was born and again in 2020 when Marlowe arrived. She was very proud of her daughters and granddaughters and was happily married to Ron.
A Celebration of Life and Prayer Service will be organized by the family at a later date.
Memorial Donations may be made in Laurie Palmer’s name to Canadian Blood Services. Please visit www.blood.ca or call 1-613-739-2339 to donate.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Oncology staff at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK for their care and compassion.

Ron and family. We are terribly sorry for your loss. Laurie was such an amazing person who will be missed by so many people. Know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow.
Dear Ron, Becky and Kathryn, I was so saddened to read of Laurie's untimely death. She and I were staff members together at Henry Braun School and she helped me so much with our school choir. Although there was a considerable age difference between us, we became fast friends and enjoyed each other's company. I remember having many lunches together (both at your home in University Park and at mine). She was always so proud of the accomplishments of her daughters and her husband. May you have many wonderful memories of your family life together. With deepest sympathy, Doreen Mitchell.
I was surprised and saddened to hear of Laurie’s passing. I taught with her at Henry Braun School and she was a dedicated teacher and a delightful colleague as she was always so positive and upbeat. My deepest condolences to her family.
I knew Laurie at university where we went through Education together. We learned that we were born on the same day over coffee and from then on we were the best of friends. Laurie had the most beautiful smile and a kind heart. Our paths took us to different communities to teach and then motherhood and marriage kept us busy. We drifted apart but I treasured the Christmas cards and brief messages we exchanged over the years. My deepest condolences to Ron and her family.
