Peter Rhodes
October 29th, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Rhodes. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer Peter passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 29, 2022, at the age of 74.
Peter was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Rhodes and daughter Lisa Caruso. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years Marilyn Rhodes; daughter Deandra (Chris) Ortman; grandchildren Kayla Van Roosbroeck, Henry, Magnus and Julia Ortman; great-grandchildren Claire and Cruz; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
He was born on October 17, 1948 in Birkenhead, England. He and Marjorie moved to Saskatchewan in 1951, settling in Stoughton, Saskatchewan where Peter grew up.
Peter joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1964 at the age of 16. He later returned to Saskatchewan, moving to Regina. He played football for the Regina Rams and then baseball for the Regina Red Sox in the early 70’s. He worked a variety of jobs throughout the years before beginning his career as a crane operator in 1987 at Ipsco (Evraz) where he retired at the age of 65 in 2013.
Peter loved the outdoors, going for walks, golfing, fishing, boating, spending time on his dear friend’s farm in Young, Saskatchewan, or travelling up north to go camping or canoeing. He loved music and enjoyed taking in concerts. But his biggest love was his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with his wife, daughter and son-in-law. He will be deeply missed, and we will forever cherish the memories that we have of him.
We would like to thank the knowledgeable and caring staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, and the doctors and nurses from the 3B oncology unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital.
There will be a Come and Go Celebration of Life held in Peter’s honor on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the family home, 5703 McKinley Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan.
A Private family graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2023.

So sorry to hear of Peter's passing. Pete and I became good friends right from the time he and his Mom came to Stoughton. He was a very good athlete in hockey, baseball and was a rough and tough competitor on the high school football team. Although our paths never crossed often after he joined the Navy, he will be remembered as a good and loyal friend. RIP Pete. Jim Allan
