Beverlee Ruth Steuart
September 25th, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our mom, grandma, nana, sister and friend Beverlee Steuart who died on September 25, 2022, following a sudden illness.
Beverlee was predeceased by her parents Charles and Louise Fleming, her brother Patrick, her sister Margaret and her husband Barry Steuart.
Beverlee will be remembered by her children Sheila (George) Scotton, Chris (Cindy) McCudden, Michael (Marcia) McCudden and Sara McCudden from her first marriage with her late husband Gerald McCudden; Barry's children Guy (Aurora) Steuart and Brenda (Pat) Howe; grandchildren Ashley and Taylor Howe, Emily and Miranda Scotton and Aja McCudden; her sister Georgina Fleming; her brother Robert (Sharon) Fleming; and numerous family and close friends.
Beverlee was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and her family moved to Regina, Saskatchewan when she was a young child. She trained as a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent her life in Regina proudly working as a registered nurse and raising her family. She retired from nursing to embark on a new career as a Canadian Snowbird with Barry, skiing in New Mexico and golfing in Palm Springs. The Garage Sale Queen, with an eye for the finer treasures, Bev was a dedicated community volunteer who sometimes wore two different shoes when she wasn't wearing her glasses prior to leaving the house, caught her first cod fish off the coast of Newfoundland when she was 75 and was proudly responsible for maintaining the squirrel population on Hill Avenue with her year-round peanut feeding program where she mentored her grandchildren.
Beverlee will be remembered for her kindness, gentle soul, love of family tradition, care of our elderly family members, the joy she brought wherever she was, her practical approach with life and her death and just being our very cool Nana. In keeping with how she led her life, Bev chose to share her medical history for an academic case study focused on the rare disease that took her from us too soon.
We share our deepest gratitude to the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Regina General Hospital for their exceptional care of Bev and support of our family during this time and with the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care who welcomed Bev during her final few hours with us.
We honor Beverlee's request for no funeral service and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverlee's memory to Sofia House who provide safe housing and support for women and children: https://give-can.keela.co/october-2022
After Barry passed in 2008, Bev kept these words close to her:
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Sleep now Nana and we will always love you to the moon and back!
Sorry to hear of your mother's passing Sarah. Please accept my sincerest condolences. May she rest in eternal peace.
