I was pretty young when Hans and Jeannette lived in Jasper Place so my memory of those days have been clouded by time. However I do recall events of the 1970;s when I served with the RCAF in Moose Jaw. We would often venture into the big city of Regina and I usually dropped by to see Uncle Hans and Auntie Jeannette. Usually Hans and I would have a game of pool and Jeannette would always whip up a lunch. On one occasion an Italian student pilot accompanied me. Well he was so impressed by Jeannettes' home made soup he spread the word back in Moose Jaw and I had a hard time fending off Italians wanting to go to Regina. But that was Jeannette. Just a heart of gold not to mention a great cook. Another loss for the Wackershauser clan, but while Jeannette has "slipped the surly bounds of earth"' the heavens have gained a star.
Auntie Jeanette and Uncle Hans always welcomed us when we would stop in Regina on our way to Alberta. Our kids would call them Grandma and Grandpa Regina. Rest in peace Auntie. Our thoughts are with your family.
My Mother Gave me my first taste of Honey and Jello, how to make peanut brittle, my first taste of black coffee. Taught how thread a needle so a button on and darn my socks. Made some good home made beer, spicy chicken wings that were to die for. Her Christmas nuts and bolts were always eagerly relieved. Mum installed in us integrity, honesty and fairness, gave us a good ethical understanding. She will long be remembered for fighting spirit. So much more I could say PS . Mum I have your rose and will keep it safe. With all my love your endearing son Dave
