Gabriel Szczurek
On the morning of December 4th, Gabe passed away in his sleep.
Gabe spent the best and happiest years of his life biking the mountains of the north shore. He was an avid poet, and he spent a lot of time trying to understand the wave that is this life, with all of its ups and downs. His poetry helped him make sense of the world around him and he often shared his art with his poetry community. 
Brother may the path you are on be a smooth ride on a bike that never breaks down and may your spirit feel the warm embrace of peace and freedom.

Only in the mind
In a piece of time
In a time to let go
 
Only in the heart
A beautiful state of art
In a time to let it grow
 
Only in the deep
Never below you're feet
Wants you to know
 
Lonely in the night
Tiny little light
Sometimes you shine so bright
 
Only in you're eyes
In the forest or the sky
In a time of need
 
Only in eternity
In a vision or a dream
That in time you may find
 
What you seek

Gabriel and I were friends for the past 12 or so years. We had many conversations via telephone or fb chat. I loved him as a friend, and will miss him dearly.
