Paddy Quay

February 12th, 1932 ~ January 12th, 2025

We are sad to announce that Paddy Quay passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 12th (one month before his 93rd birthday).

Born on February 12th, 1932, in Balikpapan, Borneo, Paddy Chor Eng Quay immigrated to British Columbia, Canada with his wife and three children on April 5th, 1970.

He was employed with Canadian Pacific Airlines / Air Canada for 20 years and retired early at the age of 58 years old. Paddy and his wife Lan took the opportunity with the travel benefits to fly to many destinations and thoroughly enjoyed every adventure together.

Predeceased by his eldest daughter Rofina in October 1995 and then his wife of 61 years, Lan, in December 2022, Paddy is survived by his son Anthony, daughter Folina (Dean), granddaughters Lindsey (Martin), Lesley (Quinten), nephews, nieces, extended relatives and friends.

His hobbies included camping with his wife in his Volkswagen EuroVan, weekly gatherings with his coffee group at Lansdowne Mall, watching YouTube videos on Asian food vendors, old country music videos, singing and playing his ukuleles (he taught himself to play at the age of 80 years old), and his regular outings to Tsawwassen Mills Mall in the last few years.

Paddy always had a good appetite and took pleasure eating Chinese Cuisine, Dim Sum, and all the traditional holiday meals at family gatherings hosted at his daughter’s house.

He will be remembered as a kind, generous, humble man with a sweet smile. Paddy had an amazing memory of retelling extensive stories through his family generations. With heavy hearts, all those narratives now end with his passing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Delta Hospital Foundation. Paddy made a contribution as he was very grateful with all the services and the care that was provided for his wife Lan when her health was declining.

We take comfort knowing he lived a full, gratified life and is now reunited with his wife Lan, daughter Rofina and other loved ones. He was loved and will be missed. Rest in Peace.

Extending my heartfelt sympathy to you, Folina, Dean and your family as you mourn the loss of your father. I have wonderful memories of chatting with Paddy, when I visited your home or when I would see him on his outings at Tsawwassen Mills. He cherished his family, especially his granddaughters, Lindsey and Lesley. I hope you find comfort with your memories and knowing that he is reunited with your Mom and your sister. Big hugs to you, my friend.

Our deepest condolences to all the family and so happy that mom and dad are reunited together to continue their travels together in their after life. Love to you all

Sending our condolences, thoughts and prayers. He was indeed a wonderful person and very much loved and admired by all and we are so blessed to be able to have some time with him not that long ago. May he R.I.P.

You were the best Uncle and my favorite, I will miss you dearly. I will also miss all the get togethers and celebrating your birthdays with you. Our last lunch together was a wonderful goodbye, eating Malaysian food, you answering my questions about back home Malaysia and the old pictures we scrolled through on the computer. After my parents passed away you were the last immediate connection to our families history and with your incredible memory wished I had asked you more questions over the years.
