William (Bill) Affleck

Passed away after a brief illness on September 1, 2024, in his 78th year.
Bill is survived by his partner of 44 years Val Perkins, niece Wendy (Kemper) and their children Abby and Joel. He was predeceased by his parents Vivian Keen and Lorne Affleck, sisters Wendy and Lorna, and brother-in-law Ian.
Bill was a proud long-time member of the Local 97 Ironworkers Union and worked on many prominent projects such as the Seabus Terminal, Skytrain, BC Place, and Alex Fraser and Arthur Lang bridges. In his early working days, he was given the nickname “Young Bill” by his fellow working brothers and “Telephone Bill” by his friends and family because he could talk on the telephone for hours and hours.
A special thanks to staff of the Residence at Morgan Heights for their wonderful and compassionate care of Bill during these last four years. Bill will always be remembered for his generosity and the love of nature and animals. He was especially fond of the three German Shepherds that were a part of our family for over 30 years. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
