Herman Veenendaal

July 5th, 1946 ~ October 25th, 2024

Herman Veenendaal was born in the city of Leusden Nederlands on July 5th, 1946, to parents Gjisbertus and Aalbertha Veenendaal. Herman is predeceased by his parents, sister Nellie, and brothers Hans, Gerald, Gus and Arie. He is survived by his brother Peter, and sisters Alice, Celia, and Dita.

Herman is from a very large family who immigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in Carman Manitoba. Growing up, Herman enjoyed a variety of jobs. He worked on a mink farm, farming, drywalling, and concrete work. Herman loved to sing and was part of a quartet and a choir throughout his teenage and into his adult years.

Herman married Greta Beintema on December 19,1975, and together they purchased a farm, and welcomed six children into their family. In 1990, they made a life changing decision to pack up all their belongings, and move from the prairies to British Columbia, where they settled in Vernon BC. There he had a variety of odd jobs, such as working in a screen printing shop, drywalling, and others, before starting a few of his own business ventures with his kids working along side him. What started as a small landscape business (OCTO Landscaping), grew into a company (Vee Ventures), adding a snow plowing business, street sweeping business, and chimney sweeping business to keep himself and his kids busy all year round. As the years went on, he welcomed 3 daughter in laws, and 2 son in laws, as well as 18 beautiful grandchildren into the family.

Herman had his struggles, and he moved around a lot from place to place over the last 15 years. We as a family have prayed constantly for his heart to soften, and for him to live the remainder of his life for the Lord. We are extremely grateful for these last 4 years where he has stabilized and been in a good environment with his church families and has truly been able to repair relationships with his family members and grow in his faith to walk alongside Jesus.  We are extremely comforted in the fact that he is no longer struggling and is rejoicing in heaven with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
