Shelley Noel Phillips

October 22nd, 2011

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Shelley Phillips. She is survived by parents Iola and Walter, 4 brothers Terry (Carolyn), Randy, Lindsay and Darren (Tracey); 2 sisters Ora-Lee (Peter Kenney) and Correna; 2 nephews Preston and Spencer; and 2 nieces Telisa (Matthew Bennett) and Erienne; as well as a great-niece and nephew. She also had a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shelley grew up in Calgary and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Walla Walla College. She had a great love for exploring the ocean. Shelley then obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary and articled with the Court of Appeal. We will remember her lively conversation, the sparkling personality that lit up a room, and her passion for the underdog. Shelley had a great love for her dogs and we would be remiss not to mention them.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Calgary Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1920 – 13th Avenue NW, on Sunday, November 13 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Messages of condolence may be left for the family.

Messages:

On behalf of Canadian University College (CUC) Alumni Department our condolences to the Phillips family, and friends. Although I did not know Shelley she did attend CUC 1972 and 1973 so was one of our large family.

I had the pleasure of working with Shelley in the late 90s. She was a bright spirit with a passion for her work and of course, her dogs. I thought of her often over the years, often hoping I would run into her again somewhere. I was very sad to hear of her passing, may she rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Shelley's passing. My condolences to her family and friends. Whilst I really only knew her professionally- she was one of a kind and a joy to associate with. The world will be a lesser place without her!

Dear Phillips Families: We send you all our deepest sympathy and prayers at this very sad time for you all. Shelley sounded like an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, family member and friend. We are so sorry for your families loss. Hugs, Friends, Greg and Maureen Ramage

Dear Erienne and Spencer I am sorry for the loss of your aunt Shelly. From Meryl and her Mom. Dear Peter I am sorry for the loss of your sister- in- law and these difficult times of saying good bye to a family member. Big hugs to all. Love Loretta and Meryl McKenna

I am so sorry for your loss, and all of our loss, with Shelley's death. She was very beautiful, smart and charming; a truly good person. We were good friends all through our professional careers and did some traveling together as well. I was just thinking about her because her birthday was coming up and I always tried to get together with her near her birthday. My children, Morgan and Dixon, who knew her well also send their deep regrets, and our thoughts are with you.

We'll miss Aunty Shelley a great deal. She was and will always remain a special person and friend to us and Layton, Rachel and True. Let us know if there's anything we can do. Steve Wilson and Liz Leuschner

My deepest condolences. I had many enjoyable dealings with Shelley, both professionally and socially. Her keen intellect and positive presence was always appreciated and will be missed.

Whatsoever soothes your spirit, comforts your soul and brings you peace. That is what is wished for you at this difficult time. Shelley was a beautiful woman, a pleasure to know and one who would never back down from a good argument. We will miss her.
