December 25th, 2013
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mom, after a long battle with cancer, with her son, Joe Holstein by her side on December 25, 2013 in Calgary, Alberta. Mom was born in Calgary on November 12,1944 to Ernest and Ruth Kline. She was the youngest of three siblings, Marie Elm and Jim Kline. She grew up in the Lockend District before moving to Cochrane to finish school . She then worked at the Scott Lake truck stop as a waitress where she met her husband Herbert Holstein. They were married in Calgary on June 20, 1965. Soon after two sons were born, Herbert Ernest of High Level, AB and Joey Karl of Crossfield. Mom and Dad lived in Calgary, Airdrie and then Crossfield until Dad retired and they moved to a small farm outside of Wildwood, AB. After Dad passed, Mom continued to live near Wildwood until her health required her to return to Crossfield and live with her son, until she required hospital care. Mom leaves behind to mourn, her sister, Marie and brother, Jim; her two sons, Herb and Joe Holstein and grandchildren; Ashley, Christine, Josh,Cody, Jessica and James. There will be a Celebration of her Life at the Crossfield Community Hall, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm with snacks to follow. Joe and Herb and families: Dennis and I are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Doris and I became good friends through the years we were both raising our sons who were also great pals, particularly you, Joe, and Kelly. There were many phone calls and talks over the years to check up on the whereabouts of our "boys". I will also never forget her kindness and patience while trying to teach me ceramics. Not an easy task! Life will never be quite the same now that your Mom is no longer with you. I also will miss her friendship and loving and caring manner. Stay strong and God bless. We are always here for you. Love, Bonnie and Dennis
