Alvin Johnston passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the age of 91 years. He was born in Radisson, Saskatchewan to Harry and Ethel Johnston and was the second of six children. He joined the RCAF in 1941 and proudly served his country in WW2. He completed a tour of operations with 408 Squadron Bomber Command England during the war. He met and married Elsie Doreen (Dot) in Northallerton, England and they settled on a farm near Sundre after the war. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dot, and eight children: Bob (Brenda), Elsie (Joe), Kathy (Ron,) Helen (George), Marion (Claude), Ann (Julian), Linda and Fran (David). A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Sundre Cemetery with reception to follow at the Sundre Elks Hall. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations in Alvin’s memory may be made to The Sundre Palliative Care Association, Box 1259, Sundre, AB, T0M 1X0.
