McFarquhar, Lindsay Bruce
May 25, 1937 - July 21, 2013
With heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss, we annouce the passing of our
beloved father and grandfather Lindsay on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 76. After a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, dad died peacefully at the Agape
Hospice surrounded by his loving daughters. He will be forever remembered by his
daughters; Maxine (David) Wilton of Cochrane, and Janice (Adrian) DeGeer of Calgary and his much loved grandchildren; Quinn, Garrett, Courtney and Carson; brother Jack (Katharine) McFarquhar; nephew Keith and niece Heather all of Calgary, plus many dear friends. Lindsay was predeceased by his cherished wife of 47 years; Evelyn, and his parents William and Mabel. Lindsay was born and lived his entire life in Didsbury, Alberta. After graduating from High School in 1955, Lindsay attended Mount Royal College where he earned a diploma in Business Administration. He began his career working along side his father and brother at the family business, Mac’s Hardware. Later on Lindsay was a respected funeral director for many years with Cy Foster-Gooder Funeral Homes. He also enjoyed many years working with the RCMP as a civilian guard. Lindsay was actively involved within the Didsbury community in many different capacities, as a volunteer fireman, town councillor, board member of the Knox United Church, and enjoyed curling for many years. Lindsay’s greatest source of pride was his family, and being a husband, dad and grandpa. He will be greatly missed as a cheerleader and supporter at his grandchildren’s football, hockey games, and swim meets. Dad will be forever remembered as a kind and gentle man who throughout his life always maintained a positive and determined attitude. He showed us what it means to be a good and decent person. We find peace in knowing that he has been reunited with mom in heaven, the love of his life. A Celebration of Lindsay’s Life was held at Knox United Church, 1406 - 19 Avenue, Didsbury on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army Agape Hospice, 1302 - 8 Ave. N.W. Calgary Alberta T2N1B8.
