Messages:

Margaret and I were very saddened to hear of John's death. Our connection with the Rymes family goes back several decades. Daughter Laura was our baby sitter for our two young sons, and we clearly remember the honour of attending Laura's wedding. In recent years, our contact with the family was pretty much limited to meeting John on our walks in the Wildwood district and discussing the pressing issues facing the world! John was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. Sincerely, Margaret & Arthur Burchnall

When I became a member of Calgary West Rotary Club in 1968, John was already a member. We became friends and co-workers on many club projects. My work took me away from Calgary during the '80s and early '90s, but when I returned to Calgary (and to Rotary) John was there to greet me warmly. Again we shared a number of activities, and he was always smiling and full of enthusiasm. My memories of John are good and happy ones. I am glad I knew him. Mike Mulligan Calgary

As a Wildwood resident, many of us were used to seeing John walking his usual route. He always had a ready smile and will be missed.

John will be greatly missed. As a fellow Rotarian, I had the opportunity to benefit from his wisdom and positive attitude many times over the years. I'm grateful for those experiences and for having known John. Thanks for everything John.

John will be sorely missed. He has been a valued member of the Rotary Club of Calgary West since 1968. His generosity to help others was reflected in the scholarships he set up in memory of his dear wife Connie. He has the respect and admiration of everyone in the club.
