Messages:

I worked with Ken on several joint projects with the Public Access team over a number of years, and was shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden passing. My deepest condolences go to his family and friends. He will be missed.

We pass along our deepest sympathies to Ken's friends and Family. Ken was a friend and a great team member to all who had the honour to work with him. We send strength to all his family and friends at this time. TELUS Ontario

December 15, 2013 Dear Fred, Penny, Nis & Family, On behalf of the Calgary Stampeder Football Club’s Ownership Group; Chairman, Ken King; Governor, Doug Mitchell; President, Gord Norrie; Head Coach and General Manager, John Hufnagel; management; coaches; players and the entire Calgary Stampeder family, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Ken. The Toone family will be faced with enormous and profound adjustments. These adjustments will be such that they affect the whole being. The path of grief, hurt and finally acceptance will take time and is one that each member of the family must travel alone. You are fortunate that your family and friends are close and each in their own special way will help others. I, like so many, was fortunate to have known Ken as a friend and as a member of the Canadian football fraternity. I have been blessed in my life to meet people that made a difference. Ken Toone is one such person. There is a saying, “Friends are the family we have chosen.” “Life is Brief and Unpredictable” and true friendships that provide lasting wisdom and support are few. We only go around once and it’s nice to go around with good people and good friends. His tools are generosity, strength and compassion. A sport will only be as good as the people who devote their personal time to that sport’s betterment. By that yardstick, Canadian football is better today because of Ken Toone’s commitment over the years. Ken’s dedication and longstanding commitment to Canadian football, specifically amateur football, is a rarity when compared to the selfishness and individualism so prominent in sports today. His support of the Calgary Bantam Football Association and his spirit of giving had no boundaries. However, a more important statement about Ken and the kind of person he was is what he left behind. Ken is such a lucky person to have a caring family and friends; how proud he is of his parents, Fred and Penny; his brother John; his fiancée Nis Nahas; his niece and nephew, Ella and Ben; and family. What greater satisfaction is there in life? People are better off today for knowing Ken Toone. Knowing all to well the tough times that lie ahead, empathy for the Toone family is strong. Remember the good times that will always be there to remind you, for they will help you through the many hurtful moments. Hold these memories fast. Soon they will help you remember with a smile. Ken lives on in your life and the lives of others who knew him. Our sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. Your football family, Calgary Stampeder Football Club Stan J. Schwartz

We both worked with Ken in Public Access and had some really great times with Ken over the 21 years(Wendy)and about half of that for Glen. He was always ready to join the group for parties and drinks after work. If you ever needed anything you know you could call him and he would always be the first one there. When I(Wendy)retired in Jan. 2010 I came to say goodbye to him and he gave me a big hug(even though he knew it would make me cry). In my retirement card he wrote "Keep in touch, your friend always" and you just knew he meant it. Our deepest sympathy to the Toone family and his girlfriend Nis, we will miss him and think of him often.

I am so very sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I enjoyed working with him for about 20 years in Public Access and found him to be kind, thoughtful, helpful and a great asset all around to the Payphone team.

I worked with Ken at Public Access for 14 years and have kept in touch since I left. Ken had such a huge heart, great sense of humor, he had that wonderful hearty laugh and was truly a stand up guy. I have many fond memories of working with Ken. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and I am so so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest heartfelt sympathy.

Hi this is Tim from the Thorncliffe Pool. I am thinking about you at this time. My sincerest condolences.

My deepest condolences to Ken's family and loved ones. Ken had a heart as big as the 'all out doors'. I will never forget his passion for youth football, only to be surpassed by his beloved BEARS. Ken was taken from us too soon.

Fred, Penny, John & Nis: There are no words to ease your broken hearts. Ken was a gentle kind fun-loving individual that Brock & I were so happy crossed our paths many years ago with the CBFA and football in general. He will be missed by all but I know he will be remembered always. Rest in peace my friend. May God keep you, his family, in his loving care always. Jane

Dear Fred, Penny, Nis and all of Ken's family, friends and colleagues. I worked with Ken at Telus a few years ago. Such a loss of a great person is very painful. My deepest condolences to you.

Penny and Fred I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely Shirley Sewell

Dear Fred, Penny, Nis and Family; Please accept my deepest sympathy, This is truly heart-wrenching to lose such a kind gentle caring co-worker. Ken and I have worked closely together for most of his 25 year with TELUS and shared many fun times, he was a great team player always willing to pitch in and give help at anytime without hesitation. Ken’s memories will live in us all and he will be sorely missed every day, his smile, laugh, big heart, and of course very deep voice. Truly an amazing man, Ken. Taken too soon from us all. If I can be of any help, I’m here. Sandra Fabrizi
