Robert William Unger

Robert (Bob) Unger passed away on December 6, 2013 at his home with loving partner, Karen Davis, by his side. Bob is survived by his partner, Karen Davis and her family, daughter Pam (Tom) and grandchildren Megan and Dallon. Bob is also survived by brothers, Arthur (Paula), Gordon (Margaret), Allan, sister Dorothy English and brother-in-law Bob Anderson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 26 years, Eleanor Ann (nee Graham) in 1994, his father Peter (1959), mother Emelia (1995), sister Marjorie (1941), brother Glenn (1952), sisters Irene Carrizosa (2002) and Lorraine Anderson (2009) and stepson Dale (2013). Bob was born in Vanguard, SK September 24th, 1933. He enjoyed spending his early years on the family farm and growing up in a large and loving family. Bob left the farm life behind and persued his own career in the oil and gas industry for many years. He worked for several companies including Ashland, Dome and Amoco. His career spanned the provinces of SK, Alberta and BC. Bob retired from Amoco in 1989. He made many lasting friendships during his working career. Bob married Eleanor in November 1967. They settled in Drayton Valley, built a home and friendships. Bob's career then took them to Fort St. John, BC for several years, before making Calgary their permanant home in the 1980's. Then in 1998 he was very fortunate to meet Karen and found love again. They settled together in the community of MacEwan in 2003, where they remained until Bob's passing. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club, 4611 - 14th Street NW, Calgary on December 19, 2013 from 2-5pm. Internment and memorial service will be held in Swift Current, SK in the spring 2014 (details to follow). My deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences are extended to Karen and all of Bob's family members. He was a wonderful person with a unique sense of humour. I am sure he will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
