BARKLEY, Barry McEwan
December 31, 1933 – August 7, 2016

Barry Barkley of Didsbury passed away at the Foothills Hospital surrounded by family members on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Barry was born in Calgary to Marion and Welby Barkley. He lived on a dairy farm in Springbank until he was twelve until the family moved in l946 to Longview, where his father was the postmaster. Barry started his career in the oil industry in Longview. He worked 21 years for Hudson’s Bay Oil & Gas, starting  in Cessford and finishing in Carstairs. His final working years were with British Petroleum. Upon retirement, Barry and Marie moved to their farm west of Didsbury enjoying the last twenty five years caring for their large yard. They travelled extensively until Barry was unable to travel. His sharp tongue, cagey sense of humour and generosity will be missed by all who knew him. Barry is lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty years, Marie; children, Janice and Larry (Leanne); step siblings, Margie and Einar (Debbie); brother-in-law, Bernie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank Dr. Smid, the local paramedics, STARS and the Foothills ICU Doctors and Nurses for their excellent care.
