Helen Kathleen Dowson passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the age of 72 years. Helen is lovingly remembered by her family, 2 daughters; Janice Marie Dowson & Diana Rae Dowson, 3 brothers and their families. Helen is predeceased by 1 sister. A Celebration of Life at Altadore Baptist Church, 4304 – 16th St. SW, Calgary, AB on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a donation in Helen’s memory may be made to CNIB, 15 Colonel Baker Place NE, Calgary, AB T2E 4Z3 or the Kirby Center, 1133 – 7 Avenue S.W.,Calgary, AB T2P 1B2. 

Messages:

I knew Helen from Altadore Baptist and loved her independent spirit. For a lady in a wheelchair, she lived life to the fullest. The people at the Kerby Centre and Altadore will miss her very much. She was also legally blind and used audio books. She loved the singing and music at church and if she wasn't there, we would miss her. People at Altadore told me that she loved to go zipping around the church in her wheelchair. I will miss her and her toughness yet independence. I was able to get to know her a little. She will be missed.
