FISCHER, David James
November 29, 1978 – October 5, 2016

David James Fischer peacefully passed away at home with his immediate family and his dog, Dexter by his side at the age of 37. David is lovingly remembered by his mother, Maria (Wayne) Hannah; father, Garry Fischer; brother, Kevin (Shannon) Fischer and nephews, Brandon and Riley; grandmother, Elizabeth Janssens; uncle, Morris (Brenda) Fischer and cousins, Corinne, Kristen & Steven; uncle, Adrian Sr. Janssens and cousins, Margaret and Michael; uncle, Wally (Gale) Janssens and cousins, Trina and Adrian Jr.; ex-wife, Amber Hannah; and cousins, John, Doug, Michael & Michelle Fischer.

David will be remembered most for being a selfless and compassionate man. David leaves behind many memories with friends and family that will forever live in our hearts.  David loved music and was a talented musician. He started playing piano when he was 2 and excelled. He composed the grad song for his graduating class in Acme. Not stopping with the piano, he taught himself the accordion, guitar and loved the bongos.  He loved spending time with friends and family around the campfire sharing his talents. There was never a happier time than when David accompanied his mom and Auntie Brenda on their accordions while everyone around played a random percussion instrument and sang along.

Camping was one of the things that David really enjoyed, for both the company and the relaxing scenery.  An invitation to go camping was seldom turned down, David loved being in on the party. Growing up, vacations were gathering with his moms’ family in Invermere and his dads’ family at Buffalo Lake. Many memories were made with his brother and cousins. David continued his love for camping through his battle spending his time with family and friends he loved.  Making the most of his last summer he ventured to Crowsnest pass with his best friend Ken, Golden with his brother, Buffalo Lake with the Fischers’ and Pine Lake with his mom. He personally hand picked his own “lake front property” beside the pond in his brothers back yard, and spent multiple weekends there to be close to his nephews.  The stories from these times will forever be told and held in our hearts.

David was passionate about his hobbies, the latest being competitive shooting or just shooting with the boys. He enjoyed days shooting with his dad, brother and nephews at his brothers.  On a journey to regain his strength, David developed a love for bike riding.  He completed various races on many styles of bikes, from off road cyclocross, to a marathon and the Ride for MS. David also loved taking pictures, capturing many beautiful memories in photos that will forever be cherished. When his energy began to decrease he took up flying a drone capturing images from a whole new vantage point. Through his battle with cancer he fought hard showing admirable strength and courage.  Every single day of his life, he smiled!

Please join David’s family in a Celebration of his Life at the Woodside Golf Course, 525 Woodside Drive NW, Airdrie, AB on Friday October 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow.

Dear Maria, Garry, Kevin and families. Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your precious son and brother. David was an awesome kid when he worked with me for the Village of Acme one summer. He made me laugh so much, and nothing was more fun than when we were so hot, and I jumped in the Acme swimming pool, and he jumped in right after me. David was so much fun that summer. Our hearts are heavy with the news of David's passing. Sincerest condolences from all of us.

Warren and I want to extend our condolences. We are so sorry that David passed, but if he couldn't be healed I am glad he was released from his pain. I can't imagine the pain, you guys are going through with a loss of a child, that is something that no parent should have to bear.

I first met Dave during Ken and Becky Erickson wedding and I knew from that first handshake what a passion for life and friends he possessed. His captured lightning shots during the freakish storm the night before were amazing. Playing his accordion at our campfires at Crows nest brought us all that much closers together. He inspired me and I hope to do his memory justice and live life fully and passionately.

Garry, Maria and Kevin, I am terribly sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to everyone during this difficult time.

Maria and Garry, I was so sorry to hear of your loss of David. I remember him fondly from his school days in Acme and Linden. He always had such a beautiful smile and such a kind face. There is no greater heartache in this world than from losing a child. There is no one word for the pain and longing you are all feeling at this time. I wish with all my heart your memories of David and the love of your family and friends surround you and give you strength and peace in the days ahead. From heaven he was delivered as a baby unto you, he is back in heaven now resting peacefully among the angels. My deepest condolences to you and your family Linda Collins

I went to school and rode the bus with David. Was a year younger than him, but I do remember seeing him and Kenny laughing and smiling all the time. Although we were never truly friends, it was very sad to hear the news. I wish him peace and glad he is comfortable. Cancer is not an easy disease to live with. To his family and close friends, I am truly sorry for your loss, but just remember the memories and feel his presence as he watches over you.

Take care my friend. I am happy to have known you, happy to have disagreed with you, happy to have discussed with you, happy to have worked with you, happy to have camped with you, happy to have spent time with you and yours, happy to have called you my friend, happy that you lived your life with passion, happy that you wanted to compete in three gun. Happy that you enjoyed beer and pizza and crown royal... Take care on your next journey of discovery my friend. Very best regards, love and wishes. Always. Nik & Cat
