MILLER, Donald W.

Donald William Miller passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the age of 81 years, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born October 3, 1934 in Vancouver, BC.  He grew up in Penticton, Nanaimo and Victoria.  As a young man, he was a commercial fisherman in the Queen Charlotte Islands.  He moved to Calgary early in the 1950's.  He worked at Eaton's before moving on to a career as a travelling salesman for a few different window companies in residential and commercial sales.
Don was a long time member of ACT, Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club, Kinsmen, the I.O.O.B and the infamous Dirty Dozen.  Don had a great sense of humour, loved to play golf and curl ('Golden Rock').  He loved to party and for many years helped to organize New Years Eve parties with close friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving family, wife, Myrna (nee Maxson) Miller; daughter, Tracey (Cam) Brown; sons, Bradley (Carol Ann) Miller and Scott (Carla) Miller; grandchildren, Brandon Miller, Caprice Miller-Brown, Kade Miller and Zenna Miller; nieces, Vicki (Volker) and Cindy (Greg); goddaughter, Joyce; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; honourary nieces, Michele, Carole and Allison; special buddies, Wayne and Willie Chappelle and many friends.
Don is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Eva Miller; his brother, Bruce Miller; Myrna's parents, Roland and Caroline Maxson; brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and many good friends.

A very large  THANK YOU  to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, aides and staff of the Foothills Hospital Unit 37, the Southwood Hospice, and The Peritoneal Dialysis Team at Sheldon Chumir for the special care you gave to Don. To Dr. Braden Manns for all the caring, concern, advice, and support over the years, a heartfelt thank you. I cannot express how fortunate I feel to have had you as Don's Doctor, and for the consideration and support shown to our family through these final days.

A Celebration of Don’s Life is being held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at noon at McDougall United Church, 8516 Athabasca Street SE, Calgary, AB with lunch to follow.
