Frank Jack Watson (Army Veteran WWII, PPCLI) entered into rest surrounded by the love of his family at the Carewest Colonel Belcher of Calgary, AB on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in his 96th year. 

Frank was born in Lebret, Saskatchewan and spent his early childhood years where his father worked and taught at the Indian Residential School.  His dad also assisted in hauling stones and helped with the building of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1925.  He later moved to Lipton, Saskatchewan where he attended school growing up in a farming community.  During his service in WWII, Frank traveled to North Africa, England, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Frank will be missed by many people in the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls, Manitoba where he worked for 33 years (1950-1983) with Abitibi-Price Inc, and was Councillor- Mayor of Powerview village for 28 years (1956-1984).  He will be remembered in the town of Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan where he had returned with his wife and youngest child following his retirement from the paper mill. Frank was very happy to move back to the Qu’Appelle valley.  He helped his brother farm and continued to do so after his brother’s passing.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his children, Patrick (Marlene), Gordon (Dorinda), Katherine (John), Bill (Molly) and Tanis (Conrad); grandchildren, Cassandra (Jim), Derna (Shane), Katrina (Dan), Vanessa (Chris), Rebecca, Robert, Kevin, Bryan, Tony, Patrick, Emily, Deanna, Madison, Bridget and Juliette; great grandchildren, Stellan, Winnifred, Madelyn, Alora, Piper, Sydney, Alexandra, Brayden and Sia; nieces, Francis (Ken), Phyllis, and Sandra (Glen); and last but not least, Peewee (Franks dog whom he cherished).

He is predeceased by his parents, Jack Watson and Katherine (nee Bittner) Watson; wife, Melina Laurette (nee Malo); sons, Brian and Sidney; grandson, Jack; and siblings, Anthony (passed at toddler age- pneumonia), Andrew (infancy), Anne, John, Joseph, Alexander and Katherine.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Notre-Dame-du-Laus Catholic Church, 40 Laura Street, Powerview-Pine Falls, MB on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

** In the families efforts to carry out Frank’s wishes, we are in search of information regarding our father’s family history. Frank’s grandparents were originally from Austria. Father’s side was Anthony Watson & Katherine (nee Spanier). Mother’s side was Andrew Bittner & Katherine (nee Helm).
