Mary Anne Henrietta Brad

November 1st, 2018

On November 1, 2018, Mary Anne Brad passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years, surrounded by her family. Mary Anne leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Jerry (Gerard) Brad; five children, Harold Brad, Eva (Don) Lee, Maurice (Yvonne Scherger) Brad, Brian Brad, Barry (Susan) Brad; 12 grandchildren, Tyler, Curtis (June), Tara Lee, Jared Lee, Amanda (Wes) Delisle, Adam (Ashley), Daniel (Richelle Kleiboer), Matthew, Mitchell, Zachary, Samantha, and Alexandra; eight great-grandchildren, Izaac, Phoenix, Morgan, Riley, Ayden, Ari, Adalynn, and Layla.  She also leaves behind one brother, John Christensen; two sisters, Yvonne (Bert) Diehl, and Christine (Mel) Kuhn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Ernestine Christensen; her brother, Paul Christensen; and two daughters-in-law, Sheila Brad and Judy Brad. Mary Anne was born on August 13, 1937 on the farm in the district of Leask, SK. Mary Anne grew up on the family farm with her parents and four siblings.  She was the second oldest of five children. She was very athletic, playing softball, running track and field, and swimming.  Mary Anne loved the outdoors and you could often find her horseback riding, playing with the cats and dogs, berry picking, and fishing.  As the oldest girl, Mary Anne had a lot of responsibilities such as doing household and farm chores as well as helping to take care of the younger siblings. Mary Anne met Jerry, her husband of 60 years, during her time as a study supervisor at Beausite School.  They married on June 16, 1958, and took over the Brad family farm, where they raised five children.  During their married life they enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and playing cards. She welcomed anyone who needed a place to stay or a homecooked meal. Mary Anne was more than just a mom, she was also her boys’ softball coach for many years. Later in life she enjoyed teaching all her grandchildren to play cards and board games, and she would sit for hours and play with them. In 2003, after 45 years of farming, Mary Anne and Jerry retired and moved to Airdrie, Alberta. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Marguerite Manor, for the love and care they gave Mary Anne over the last two years. We would also like to thank the staff of Dulcina Hospice for the kindness and care provided to Mary Anne and her family during her last days.
