ANDERSON, Evelyn Isabelle
January 7,1928 – N. Battleford, SK
November 20, 2020 – Calgary, AB
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Evelyn Anderson on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 92.
Mom was the 9th child of 12 born to George and Angelina Agnew. Her childhood was spent mostly in Neepawa, MB and she eventually moved to Calgary and Balzac, AB.
Mom first met Dad when invited by her brother, Bob to come to a Christmas party in Calgary as they needed more girls. As was usual, Dad was singing and Mom recalled that she fell in love with his voice before she met him. They married on July 15, 1952 and operated a dairy farm in Balzac, AB.
Mom was in charge of a crew of 6 kids, a husband and hired hand on their farm. She was a hard worker and in the early years had no running water or toilets. They did have electricity but used a wood stove. They stooked the sheaves and hand shovelled grain to feed the cows. She was involved in many bake sales and charities in the community as well as acting in the many plays presented at the Balzac Community Hall.
Her chocolate chip cookies were renowned and worth a high price for trading at school.
Over the years they enjoyed travelling along with many of their neighbours, especially to Las Vegas and visiting her sister Doris and family in Arizona. She loved spending time with her family, enjoying a great meal, cocktails and many laughs.
The farm life made Mom stronger than a cat with nine lives. She survived a fall from a moving truck, drowning in the Bahamas, and a broken neck, to name a few. She continued to smoke cigarettes until days prior to her death. She will be joining Dad where they can sing without masks, dance without distancing and smoke a cigarette as she pleases.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen Lamb (Adrienne Morrell), daughter-in-law, Geraldine Anderson, Brian Anderson, Kathy (Danny) Kowarchuk, Cheryl (Allan) Laxdal and Arlene Anderson; grandchildren, Ross (Sarah Strocel) Lamb, Lisa (Scott) Sweet, Layne (Deirdre) Anderson, Carley (Tony) Mamprin, Eric (Dana Jelinski) Laxdal, Danika (Kade Shepherd) Kowarchuk and Michael Kowarchuk; great-grandchildren, Carter and Austin Sweet and Adelynn, Jackie and Lillian Anderson. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Agnew.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Anderson in 2002; and son, Neil Anderson in 2008.
As per Evelyn’s wishes, no formal Service will be held.
