Ron McLeod passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the age of 72 years with his wife, Brenda McLeod (née Fjordbotten) and daughters, Raine and Bobbie, by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by not only his wife and daughters, but his sisters Darlene (Jim) Anderson and Karen (Ray) Brewster, his brother Len (Mina), his many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friends. He is predeceased by his father Vernon and his mother Ila (née Seely), both of Nanton.
Born in Claresholm and raised in Nanton, Ron grew up learning the art of woodworking from his father, a skill he carried with him for the rest of his life. Ron was generous and always there to help a friend (or stranger) who needed it and he worked hard at whatever he did, never doing anything halfway. He was also a voracious reader of historical non-fiction and was particularly fascinated by the histories of both World Wars.
Although Ron and Brenda started their family in the small mountain town of Grande Cache where he was an equipment operator at the local mine, in 1999 fate allowed them to move “back home” to the Nanton area where they remained until his death. Ron will be remembered for his humour, his talent for singing Barrett’s Privateers with every man in the family at weddings, and playing Mannheim Steamroller at full volume to wake the girls on Christmas morning.
His family would like to thank the staff at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary for their diligent care for Ron at the end of his life.

My deepest condolences, Ron was a good friend who taught me a lot about woodworking, he was quite a character, we shared lots of memories and good times and a few beverages, gonna miss you buddy!
Happy to have known this man, proud to call him Uncle. He talked to me less like a nephew and more like a friend, never afraid to give me the gears a bit. One conversation that stands out to me was on a summer day at grandpa and grandmas farm, I come in from outside, he sees me in shorts and asks “are those your legs or are you riding on a chicken?!” I remember being baffled and laughing at the same time. His wittiness and sense of humour is something I’m going to remember and hang to for sure. Love you uncle Ron! ❤️
So sad to hear the news. I didn't get to spend enough time with Ron, but I sure appreciated his humor and quick wit. He was one of the good guys. Sending my condolences to Brenda, Bobbie, Raine, and Ron's sisters and brothers.
